Bizzare Login / Logoff Problem With SMF - Solved

I have integrated my PP and SMF sites but now have a problem as the login / logoff is all over the place. Essentially, I can login / logout while on the SMF page but can't while on the PP page. Also the login status is not carried across from SMF to PP.

Clicking the logout/login link on PP page runs the script gives the messages but the page just reloads with me still logged in or logged off as the case may be.

Also, I checked the pp_iponline table and it has values in. I would have expected it to be empty and for only the equivalent SMF table to be the one used.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Had to do with cookie settings from SMF/TP

When you installed did you actually specify the SMF cookie name cause if you did not you will never login.

I would suggest if this is the case reinstall and pay careful attention to all questions on install

Thank you for the reply.

I really have to avoid reinstalling.

That was a summary and I specified the cookie.

Just now, I logged in on the SMF page, went to the PP page and was not logged in, logged in and it went through.

I noticed it ran misc.php which has the login reference to the pp_iponline table.

I know reinstalling is the easy way out but I am hoping I can make changes without going down that route.

My precise query is this.

Misc.php has references to the pp_iponline table but smf.php has correct references to the smf_online table. Is there anywhere where there is a switch over.

I am thinking there must be a If Statement that goes....

if using forum integration
run function from smf.php
else
run function from misc.php
end if

maybe in pp_inc.php ... Is this the case?

If so, I can have a look there to see if something has been messed up.

I suppose the main thing is that it works sometimes and doesn't other times. If I have to reinstall then so be it

I managed to login (really puzzling why it comes and goes)

Here are setting from admin does anything leap out?

PhotoPost Cookie Path [ / ] >> As per advice
Forum Cookie Prefix [ ] >> SMF doesn't seem to use this
PhotoPost Cookie Domain [MyDomain.com] >> Sraightforward
Your SMF Cookie Name [CookieName] >> Copied over from SMF

Forum Settings
URL to your forums main directory [Path to Forum] >> Sraightforward
User Registration System [smf] >> Not Sure of This One
Forum database table prefix[smf_]>> Sraightforward

Thanks for your help.

If your login works its just a matter of your cookies not being aligned.

Your cookie path should always be / in both applications and set your cookie domain to .domain.com in both cookie domain spots

Remember .domain.com and www.domain.com are two separate domains and cookies
