You download the zip file and follow the upgrade document in the documentation folder of the download. Basically you upload everything except your config files or install.php and run the upgrade.php file and select the upgrades you need from last version.

You need to ensure in Admin => Global Options you set the proper path to mysqldump on your server and then you set the proper full server path to your backup directory and that that directory is set to 777 permissions.

Upgrade instructions are provided in the documentation folder. You basically upload the new files over the old ones except the config files and run upgrade.php
