mogrify woes

I have been having reports by users of not being able to upload images properly or running out of memory using gd so I downloaded imagemagick today and compiled it - no problems with the compile.

I went into my photopost config file and set the path name to mogify and when I try to upload an image I get an error show below:

ps: /tmp is set to 777 and is owned by apache (apache runs as user apache on this server) and I see zero byte files in /tmp

any ideas?
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Error creating thumbnail! Error code: 1

Command:

"/usr/local/bin/mogrify" +profile "*" -size 150x123 -quality 70 -geometry 150x123 -unsharp 10 '/usr/local/websites/www.mysite.com/mysite/photogallery/data/500/thumbs/daytona.jpg'

Is your data directory at every level set to 777?

If you edit image-inc.php and remove this twice below does it work?

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.

chuck - yes they are all set to 777

however I do not understand what you want me to do. I see the two lines with the mogrify_command in image_inc but I'm unclear what you want me to change. I honestly think it's a strange ownership or rights problem since VB won't allow me to upload images either when using mogrify instead of GD because VB yields this error message when uploading an image...

"identify: no decode delegate for this image format `/tmp/phpiHXkgl'."

I'm having a tough time figuring this one out...

Looks like when installing mogrify you did not install it correctly with all the libraries since it can not find the graphics library to decode the image.

You can try reinstalling or use gd2

Chuck - I think I just got a clue to the solution.

see here: http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/f...ry/009052.html

so - I uploaded a gif instead of a jpeg and vb took it just fine. I'll research further, but it looks like the source code for imagemagick 6 not longer includes support for jpg by default - I will look at the ./configure option and read further.

I'll post the outcome of my research and findings.

Imagemagick never includes support for jpg by default. Our instructions below have been the same for many years this should help you. This is why you need to also compile image libraries
