Upgrading - Upload Data & Uploads folders?

Hi there,

Just doing an upgrade and following the instructions says upload everything except install.php and config files.

If i upload the data and uploads folders will I end up removing all the data files already on my server?

I am using TurboFTP and not really sure if it is going to wipe existing folders and files.

thanks for any advice

you wont lose the images if thats what you mean as you will simply overwrite whats is duplicated in the new file set. Anything thats not duplicated by the new files will not be overwritten.

You will of course need to copy the contents of the two config files across to the new versions.

Thanks for such a quick reply.

That is the answer I was looking for as I was worried of losing stuff as I assumed one folder would completely replace the other and all the content.

.. and all this time I have been dragging folder content across separately instead of the whole folders lol

There's no need to upload the data and upload folders (in fact the instructions don't say that do they? just all *.php + a few others and templates etc) and if you leave the config files alone there's no need to copy them either.
