| Upgrade error on upgrade from 5.0 release to 5.1
I am way behind on versions and recently renewed to get up to date again. I'm running (according to the footer on my photopost site) version 4.8c. I started the upgrade from the 4.82 step and get a blank white page. I found a post where it said to add in the $skip_exheader="yes"; line and that got me past the blank page.
Now no matter what I try I get the following error on the 5.0 to 5.1 upgrade step:
We're sorry, but the system experienced an unrecoverable error. Please try again later.
And I can't do a single thing past that... I need some help. Any thoughts?

I started with the next step as recommended and get the same error on the 5.1X release to 5.2 step, the URL is upgrade=511&step=1, should I just continue on again??

I'd sure like to get some help with this. I pushed past this and the photo album comes up with an entirely blank page.

I stepped through all the upgrade steps from 4.82 on, followed your instructions to proceed past the "We're sorry, but the system experienced an unrecoverable error. Please try again later." on your recommendation to 5.1 then as I reported got the same error again on the 5.1X release to 5.2 step.
I'm not skipping any steps and re-running any of the scripts gives the already exists mysql errors.
I'm doing this on a test site prior to upgrading my live site with duplicated data from the live site.
I'm most confused by the fact that my version is 4.8c and wasn't sure where to start the upgrade from since only 4.82 is listed close to that version. I'll clean out the test install and start again, any suggestions will be most welcome.

That's what I did then. And get those errors at thost steps in the upgrade process.
This is a windows 2003 server running the latest PHP and MySQL since I recently rebuilt the entire thing.

You can post a url here so we can see your gallery and give you support as mentioned. Upgrading is usually just uploaded the files except the config and running the upgrade script. You should be fine if you run all the upgrades you need once.

Set up with data from my live site. This is currently functional. I will attempt the upgrade again.

Once again I run the 5.0 to 5.1 step and get the error message.
"We're sorry, but the system experienced an unrecoverable error. Please try again later."
It shows the header from my site that I have integrated from threads.
You said before to continue on past this to the next step, which I can't do unless I reload the upgrade script again.
So what is this error and how do I get past this?

FYI I've attached a screen cap of the page displayed, the URL is http://www.sofguild.com/photopost5/u...rade=50&step=1
I'm going to leave it at this point until I get a response as to what to do next.

What version did you have before? Do your server error logs give any hint to errors. I am able to run through the upgrade fine but your site does not display

Have you uploaded all the new files including the new config-int.php file. Make sure to remove .NEW from the front of that new file

I did, but that step was not in the upgrade instructions. The upgrade instructions seem very outdated to me. That should probably be added, though I suppose there aren't too many folks as far behind in versions as myself.
I will try that and re-run the process again.
Thanks.

Remember you can only run your upgrades once so be sure to start with a known good backup if you try again.

Same error as above at the same step.
I'm pretty much ready to throw in the towel and give up here. |

Ok so this time I decided to push past the error. Just kept upgrading, manually stepping through the scripts and it appears everything is finally upgraded *knocks on wood*. I just hope nothing important was missed along the way with these goofy errors.
And I just realized there's ANOTHER version of Photopost out now! LOL
Well at least I'm up to 5.5 now. So not too bad to upgrade this time I hope.
Thanks.

Nope as long as you run the upgrades you need to run and upload all the files you will be fine
