"More" showing random images

I'm not sure if this is an upgrade problem, a migration problem, or maybe a "problem exists between keyboard and chair" as I both upraded to 5.5 and migrated to a new server within a few days of each other, and didn't notice the problem until after the move.

When you view an image in my gallery, the "more" photos at the top of the page are apparently random. It seems that they should only show photos from that specific category, based on what I've seen on other forums.

Maybe there's a setting that changes the way this acts?

You can pick any image, they all seem to exhibit the problem.

The images shown the more strip are selected from other galleries besides the one you're browsing, and I can see no real logic defining which ones are selected.

Similiar threads to the rescue...

In admin cp under edit settings go to sidebar settings and turn on Random Image pal.

Or "off" in my case, somehow it apparently defaulted to on. Since I had it on top of the page, rather than sidebar, that setting eluded me. By the way, why is it called "PAL", makes me think it has something to do with a European TV format. (Seriously, I wasn't sure what that meant.)

OK, not so fast... I've found another oddity.

The following category only has 1 image in it, so it's a great test:

I have recent, most popular and random images enabled.

So, if you click on the image under the category heading, "more" only shows 1 image. (which is correct, as there is only one in the category)

If you click on the image in the random area, it only shows 1 image.

However, if you click on the same image under the "recent" or "most popular" then it shows a whole line of images, most from other categories.

Is that working as intended?

There are so many cases that determine what next prev photos are shown on showphoto. It depends on if you pass a limit a cat variable etc etc

As far as the featured photos random block that new ajax technology is not passing a cat parameter so yes all kinds of Photopost will be shown there. I can say it is working as Michael has intended it right now. I know with PP 6 he plans to expand upon the ajax functionality

I too have always wondered what "PAL" meant but was embarassed to ask. Glad somebody else has now!
