Problem installing PhotoPost PHP

Hello all,

Well, I gave it a shot to install...and here's what happened:

Per the instructions, I changed all the directories accordingly...I changed their CHMODs.

I then tried to open a browser with:

www.e-ted.com/gallery/install.php (I had named my directory "gallery" instead of photopost)

I got the following errors:

Warning: main(config-inc.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/t/m/a/tmattos1/html/gallery/install.php on line 111

Warning: main(config-inc.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/t/m/a/tmattos1/html/gallery/install.php on line 111

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required 'config-inc.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/content/t/m/a/tmattos1/html/gallery/install.php on line 111

I'm hoping this is a simple fix?

Please help if you can Thanks much!

edit: Okay, I realize I didn't create an MySql database prior to this... I believe I know how to set one up... but not sure exactly what I need to do once I have the database name, username and password.

edit #2: Okay, I created the database using MySql in the control panel. Problem is, when I tried to create a database "photopost" it was already taken so I created a totally different one. I'm just not sure what to do now... please help.

There will be database and site/server settings to fill out.

Zachariah, thanks very much for answering!

I'm just not sure how to do that... I did create a MySql database... but not sure what to do next...

And your response is Greek to me... I'm not sure what I'm doing.

But I do appreciate your attempt to help me.

Chuck, thank you! That helped me at least get into the install program...but then this happened at step 2:

Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) in /home/content/t/m/a/tmattos1/html/photopost/install.php on line 547
I cannot connect to the PhotoPost MySQL server. [host:$host][mysql_user:$mysql_user][mysql_password:$mysql_password]. Check your config-inc.php for the correct settings and rerun.

When I tried to create a database of "photopost" it said it was already taken... so in Step 1, I changed it to the name I had given it "tedgallery". I put "tedgallery" in Database Name field and "tedgallery" in Database User field.

I then chose "GD 2"(since that is what I have)...

I feel good that at least I'm a bit farther!

Is there something I can do to even get a bit farther? Yes, I know I'm greedy.

Edit: Actually, I misspoke. Step 2 went fine... this happened at Step 3. Looking at the instructions, that is when it checks my database settings. I'm not sure which settings I entered incorrectly. The only thing I can think is that the Database Name and Database User are two different variables. Is the Database User the name I use to log into my account and the Database Name is "tedgallery"?

Edit2: Okay... tried that and no luck! LOL! Could the PhotoPost Database Host field be something other than "Localhost"? And I noticed that the Path to PhotoPost Installation field is marked "/home/content/t/m/a/tmattos1/html/photopost". However, I didn't put the photopost directory in the html directory (because there IS no html directory)... I just put it in my home directory... could the path be wrong?

Ted if you are getting a mysql connect error you are inputting incorrect variables to make a mysql connection to your server.

Make sure to go to your sites control panel create a database and user passwords and write down the host user password and database name

You should then be able to input these into the install script and continue.

Hi Chuck, thanks for answering.

I did just that... as I said in my post prior:
1. I couldn't create a "photopost" database (it said it was already taken)
2. I named it "tedgallery"...(It didn't ask for a database name...just a User name)
3. I created a password.

In the install.php, it asks for the database name and the user name. I entered "tedgallery" for both *shrug* Since I couldn't make the database name in my control panel, I figured it was the same as the User name?

I left "localhost" as "localhost"...

I don't see what I'm doing wrong.

I've left you a message on the phone's answering system because I'm thinking it's probably just best I pay for installation because obviously I'm over my head with this stuff.

Again, I appreciate your help.

Ted

Your site's control panel should have all the database info in there. You should also see listed in there the site mysql host username password and be able to create a database. I can not answer any of these for you on here. Some sites allow you to create a database on the fly from the install script other hosts only allow the database creation from there control panel.

If you would like to order an install just purchase one from out store.

Hi Ted,
First off you have put photopost in the correct place it dosnt have to go in a folder called html.
Secondly when you set up your mysql database it is irrelevant what you call it, it dosnt have to be"photopost" the important thing is to go back to your control panel and note down the following:

Database Host
Database Name
Database User
Database Password

So you should have something like this below:
PhotoPost Database Host = usually something like mysql9999.yourhost.com
PhotoPost Database Name = tedgalleries or whatever you named the database as.
PhotoPost Database User = tedgalleries probably the same as database name but depends what you input when setting up.
PhotoPost Database Password = your password when you set up the database.

Hope this helps you out & gets you to the point im at, im new to this as well so stumbling through, anyway good luck & best wishes

Thanks for answering, Sean.

I do have a Database Host name... but where does that go in the install.php page?

Does it go in the field

Path to PhotoPost Installation:

or in the field

PhotoPost Database Host: (where currently it says localhost)

Or does it not go on that page at all?

Okay! That seemed to work!

However, it didn't like that I wanted it "gallery" instead of "photopost"...so what I'll do now is delete all traces of photopost from my server and start all over from fresh...now that I know of some things I didn't know before.

Thanks for the help...but I may be back! LOL

Well, my mother was going to name me Cheshire or Garfield, but certain copyright laws prohibited it.
