| Chuck - Upgrade Question
Chuck,
I'm sorry for the stupid question. I am a new customer and I have never upgraded. My version is 5.3 and I am wanting do to do the upgrade.
I am confused by the terminology a bit in the announcement and the upgrade instructions. It's my fault, not yours.
Can you advise which files exactly are to be uploaded? I'm just confused as a new person to this process.
Thank you. |

Thats it |

Oh boy, ok...
Those noted in the templates folder... noted where in the announcement?
I use VB3, so just upload that one from the forums folder?
And all the .php files in the main directory?
I'm sorry, I know you have explained it well, I just can't get it through my thick head until I learn more about it I guess.
And, how many files do I need to modify?

I guess I am asking if these are files we do or do not upload and what file(s) do I need to change as far as adding information about my site: Quote:
There are no new features in this release and no security updates; this is an optional upgrade, but users will enjoy the performance boost of this new version.
/*.php (except config-inc.php.NEW, config-int.php.NEW, inc_features.php, inc_photopost.php, install.php and upgrade.php)
forums/*.php (you only need the file the corresponds to your version)
templates/filmstrip-hor.tmpl
templates/filmstrip-ver.tmpl
templates/indexstats.tmpl
templates/showgallery.tmpl
templates/showmlist.tmpl
templates/showphoto.tmpl
templates/uploadphoto.tmpl
templates/vb3enhanced/comments.tmpl
templates/vb3enhanced/filmstrip-hor.tmpl
templates/vb3enhanced/filmstrip-ver.tmpl
templates/vb3enhanced/indexstats.tmpl
templates/vb3enhanced/quickcom.tmpl
templates/vb3enhanced/showgallery.tmpl
templates/vb3enhanced/showmlist.tmpl
templates/vb3enhanced/showphoto.tmpl
templates/vb3enhanced/uploadphoto.tmpl
There is no upgrade script for this release; you only need upload changed files.
| I'll get it if you'll help me just a little more. |

The way that's stated might not be clear to people unfamiliar with that kind of shorthand.
/*.php (except config-inc.php.NEW, config-int.php.NEW, inc_features.php, inc_photopost.php, install.php and upgrade.php)
This means replace (e.g. overwrite) all .php files in the main photopost installation directory except the files stated.
forums/*.php
This means replace all .php files in the forums subdirectory.
The rest is pretty straight forward. Replace the specified .tmpl files in the templates subdirectory, and the same in the vb3enhanced subdirectory under templates.

It took me hours to sort out what /*.php meant, because it's not explained in words either! I was pretty clear with the exceptions, but not sure about the files which had to be uploaded actually!
