Problems with file types

I have gone through all the messages and still cannot resolve this one. I have several licenses, but this is the first with this problem. (It is on a totally different server).

On upload, the image seems to upload OK, but then the screen goes blank and the image is never displayed. It seems that no medium size image is ever generated.

Eventually a thumbnail shows up on the index page.
I have checked all permissions and set to 777 for data and upload folders. The thumbnail is there and the larger image is there, but the medium image is not.

Using with Joomla (Mambo).

ftp and other login info sending in PM. Quite urgent. THANKS!

Is your data and uploads paths correct in global options and storage options and they set to 777 at every level on the server?
