Question PP & VB: Separate database better?

I will be installng PP on my server with vBulletin and I am expecting a heavy traffic load in the future. Is it better to install PP using its own database? Or incorporate it into the vbulletin database? Is there a pro / con to either? Any suggestions would help.

If your going to have heavy loads etc I would suggest separate databases as the small incentive to place them in the same database would be negated when dealing with larger busier sites.

Question

Thanks much. I was thinking the same thing and was probably going to use its own database. Just curious... what the pros are to using the same database?

With PP in its own database it does still use the same user information (name password groups avatars, etc) as VB correct?

I would like to have on seperate db, Do I need to create a new db first before step 3 will work, or does this installation software creat one for me. I just seem to keep getting

"I cannot connect to the PhotoPost MySQL server. [host:$host][mysql_user:$mysql_user][mysql_password:$mysql_password]. Check your config-inc.php for the correct settings and rerun."

Hello

That depends on your host and permissions. Yes we attempt to create the database but if the user does not have create permissions from the host then it can not be done. Some hosts lock down database creation only through there control panels and if so this is where you create and define users to the database. You would then put the proper info in the install config.
