Upgraded to 5.3 and now can't log in I upgraded from 4.8.1 to 5.3. Now I can't log in. Reading through the forums here it seems it would be a cookie issue, but I can't figure out what is set wrong. I had to go into myphpadmin and manually edit the following settings in the "pp_settings" table: cookie_path = / cookieprefix = bb (since I'm running vb3.5) domain_path = .mydomain.com (set correctly to my domain) My "forum database table prefix" is already blank, which is correct. My paths all seem correct. I don't get any errors. Currently my config-int.php file has "VB3_INTEGRATION", "VB3_ENHANCEDINT", and "VB3_COMMWYSIWYG" set to "off". I tried turning them "on" and my vb menubar came on, but still no luck logging in. |
Two things to also check. Make sure if you recently upgraded vb as well to 3.5 from vb2 that Photopost is indeed integrated with vb3 not vb2 by checking the settings table of Photopost and settings setting 41 to vb3 Make sure to edit your config-inc.php file and make sure the $vblicense variable is set to your proper vb license ( this can be found at the top of the config.php file of the vbulletin install in their includes directory ) |
OK, I was able to get in by uploading my old config-inc.php file. Per the UPGRADE.TXT instructions I thought I was supposed to use the new config-inc.php file supplied with the new 5.3 zip file. (item #1 says to check for new config-inc.php variables) Is this not correct? |
Chuck, looks like we were typing at the same time. :) I do have another problem though. None of my photos show up. All thumbnails show "thumbnail not available" image and none of the full size photos show up. Looking at the paths it seems something must have gone wrong in the upgrade. The photos are still in my data directory, but photopost is looking for the wrong name. Example: the name of the photo is 6311myphoto1.jpg but photopost is looking for 63116311myphoto1.jpg Note the double 6311 number. Is there any way to fix this? If I go into photpost admin and rebuild thumbnails it doesn't find any images (since it's looking for the wrong name) and deletes all in that directory. |
Okay it would appear you ran the last step of the 485-5.0 upgrade more than once. The get the photos back you would need to restore the photos table from the backup you took of the mysql database before upgrade per the upgrade instructions and then rerun upgrade.php and run each step only once. Your login issue should be one of the two things I posted already. |
My old version was 4.81 but on the upgrade screen there is no option for upgrading from 4.81, only 4.82 so that's what I used. Should I have not used that as my starting point? |
starting there was fine. The point is that the next upgrade 4.85 to 5.0 you ran step 3 of that upgrade more than once which prepended the user's userid on the photo name more than once. See your example 63116311myphoto1.jpg If you restore the photos table from a backup and go forward you should be fine provided you run each step only once. |
Thanks for the help Chuck. OK, recovered the backup and started upgrade.php again. Everything went fine until the 5.0 to 5.1 upgrade. After clicking "proceed" it gives a few errors about old files not being able to be deleted (no big deal) and then it actually shows my photopost page inline after the errors, but no "proceed" link so I can't continue the upgrade. See attached screen shot. |
Just run the upgrade.php script and select the 5.1 upgrade and continue forward. You will be fine. |
Excellent. That worked. So far so good. Thanks again! |

I have this problem too but my case is different.... I did a fresh installation of PP 5.3. There is no forum integration. But after i set the cookie path, cookie prefix and domain path, i find myself not able to login via frontend and admin panel  |
In a standalone install there is no need to set cookie prefixes or domain names? You would need to elaborate and give more site info here. |

is that so? hmm... so only for forum integration then i needed it? mine is a fresh installation (no forum integration) of the latest PP version, using PP authentication... :) |
yes you do not set a cookie prefix or domain because the cookie domain is whatever photopost is on so no need and we do not use a prefix on our cookies. If you want to give more details like a url and test login etc I can take a look at what I see. |
I posted a ticket I posted a ticket but still having problems. I get no thumbs and I can't access my adm-index. Pp shows an admin link but it's blank. Checked cookie paths and everything I could find in the forums with no luck. I upgrated from 4.8 and vb 3.0.1 and I also run vbp. The url is www.carlospost.com |
