| Logging in to Photopost Admin
Hi there.
I purchased Photopost pro last week and installed it at: www.congeralley.com/photopost
Unfortunately I am experiencing problems with the registration / login system. For example, if I log in to the forums or on the VBA portal page, the PP system does not see me as logged in, and vice versa. Also, I cannot log in to teh PP admin system in order to complete my set-up / configuration.
I'm sure that this must be a common problem with new installations. Can anyone point me to a thread which covers this?
Thanks very much.

Having read some of the posts on installation problems, I did a frsh install, and made sure I had teh bb cookies prefix.
However, I still can't log into Admin at the end of the install process. I get teh following message:
Warning: chdir(): No such file or directory (errno 2) in /homepages/46/d157757003/htdocs/photopost/header-inc.php on line 60
Warning: main(./global.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /homepages/46/d157757003/htdocs/photopost/header-inc.php on line 61
Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required './global.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /homepages/46/d157757003/htdocs/photopost/header-inc.php on line 61
Does this look familiar to anyone? If so, is there a solution somewhere in teh boards?
Cheers.
Gord

Edit your config-int.php file and in the $vbpath variable make sure to correct it to the proper server path to your forum. Basically we can not find the global.php of vb since the last step of install the server path was wrong.

Hi Chuck, and thanks for responding.
I did as you suggest, but the problem remains: I cannot log into Admin on completion of the install.
This must be a small detail. The rest of the install seems to have gone ok, as you can see at www.congeralley.com/photopost/index.php
Any other suggestions?
Gord

Ok. Thanks Chuck.
Made some decent progress there. I was able to log into Admin and start setting things in motion. Thanks for your help.
Gord
btw, you wouldn't happen to have a quick answer to the question: why will the system only show the thumbnail and not the full image? |

Check under Admin => Storage Options that the paths and urls are correct hit revert twice to pick up the global paths.
If that does not solve it make sure you do not have watermarking set to on but have forgot to place a proper path to the watermark file.
Your using the watermark script and it is not finding the image because of one of the reasons above.

Hi Chuck.
Yeah - it worked once I turned off all the image protection options. Strange though - the path to the watermark was correct ... Never mind: i'll come back to this another time.
The only glitch left is a dump of warning messages when you upload a photo. The warnings appear only fleetingly, so I can't cut and paste them here. They do not seem to affect the upload function, which is working ok. They just don't look good for the user. Again, is this common?
Many thanks for your help.
Gord

I would suggest checking your uploads and data paths and ensuring they are correct as I posted above in Admin => Global Options. Then in Admin => Storage Options revert the path twice to load the new path you had entered in global options. Make sure your uploads and data directories at every level are 777.

Hmmmm. The registration problem has returned today, after a few days of ok operation.
I've removed the link to the gallery from my site, so as not to annoy the users. I'll try to reinstall from scratch at the weekend.
The photopost system does seem to do some odd things. One of them is that removal of www from URLs. I've noticed that this has thrown Google ...
I'll get into this again when I have time at the weekend.
thanks for your help so far, Chuck.
Gord.

Our software does not remove www in urls. The software only uses the url's and paths you enter on installation.
If there is any specific error you have left please explain in details so I can assist. This register thing is all cookies and they need to be set exact to match vb. Upgraded to 5.3 and now can't log in
This thread highlights what they should be

Hi Chuck,
Here are some clues. Maybe you can work out what the problem is.
1) I just tried to upload a JPEG (an action which previously worked ok), and got the following error / warning messages:
Warning: imagecreatefrompng(): '/kunden/homepages/46/d157757003/htdocs/photopost/watermark.php' is not a valid PNG file in /homepages/46/d157757003/htdocs/photopost/image-inc.php on line 190
Warning: imagesx(): supplied argument is not a valid Image resource in /homepages/46/d157757003/htdocs/photopost/image-inc.php on line 191
Warning: imagesy(): supplied argument is not a valid Image resource in /homepages/46/d157757003/htdocs/photopost/image-inc.php on line 192
Warning: imagecopy(): supplied argument is not a valid Image resource in /homepages/46/d157757003/htdocs/photopost/image-inc.php on line 194
Warning: imagedestroy(): supplied argument is not a valid Image resource in /homepages/46/d157757003/htdocs/photopost/image-inc.php on line 198
Warning: getimagesize(): Read error! in /homepages/46/d157757003/htdocs/photopost/image-inc.php on line 77
2.) When I log into the forums and then move to the gallery, i need to log in to the gallery. But then when I move back to the forums, I appear as an unregistered user, although I can see that I am already logged in (i.e. the system doesn't recognise that it's me). I need to relog in before I can log out, if you see what I mean. Now, I have checked all the paths and URLs in photopost, and they seem to be fine. I've reverted the storage options, etc. They're correct.
Any thoughts?
Cheers.
Gord.

Okay your first error has to do with the path to your watermark you have it typed as a php file not png. The error tells me this Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
In your Admin => Watermark Options the path maybe should look like this if the watermark is called watermark.png Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
As far as being logged in or not logged in thats easy. Tons of threads on this support forum about vb3 cookies
You need to ensure your vb and photopost cookies match.
Login to photopost admin and make your cookie settings this
cookie path /
cookie prefix bb
cookie domain .congeralley.com
Now make sure in your vb admin cookies are set to the same path and domain. The cookie prefix is set in your vb config.php file and is usually bb by default unless you changed it on install
Next also in your Photopost admin config settings make sure you have entered the proper vbulletin license number not customer number in our config
There should be no issue with logins if the above is followed.

Thanks Chuck.
Regarding the watermark, I just switched it off. I don't actually have a watermark.png file. I suppose it's down to me to create one? That resolved the upload issue.
I updated the cookie domain as you suggested (it was blank and I made it .congeralley.com). This seems to have cleared up most of the registration problem. Although I notice that if you log into the forum and then go to the gallery, you need to hit refresh on the browser before it recognises you ...
But not the other way around. i.e. if you log out of everything, then log in to Photopost, and then navigate to the forums, the forum recognises that you are logged in. Is there maybe one thing left to update ...? |

Just double check your cookie settings and license number. You should be logged in if both apps are set as I outlined above.
