Installation Problems

Im having a few problems installing photopost.

My website is setup with a forum running Vbulletin 3.5.4 and I purchased Photopost for the gallery and its integration with vBulletin.

Both the gallery and forum are setup with their own subdomains as follows

http://gallery.mydomain.com & for the forum http://forum.mydomain.com

Each also has a its own "seperate" My SQL database hosted with doteasy.

I followed all the instructions and it seemed to do most of it but I get the following errors when I go to the gallery homepage after installation.

At the head of the page;

Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /var/www/gallery/forums/vb3.php on line 25

Further down the webpage

Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /var/www/gallery/forums/vb3.php on line 54

The actual path to the subdomain when I FTP to my hosting space is;

/var/www/gallery or for the forum /var/www/forum

Any suggestions or fix's would be greatly appreciated.

Hello

On installation we ask in the first step the mysql database info for both the forum and the photopost databases. On the next to last step we ask the mysql table prefix is any of vbulletin.

Either of these two things have been entered incorrectly. Either the database info is wrong and we are not finding the vbulletin tables where your telling us or the mysql table prefix for vbulletin was not entered correctly on install.

Thanks for the swift respose!

Q

On installation we ask in the first step the mysql database info for both the forum and the photopost databases. On the next to last step we ask the mysql table prefix is any of vbulletin.

A

The database info and prefix's are well known to me as follows;

Forum is: mydomain_com_-_forum

and

Gallery is: mydomain_com_-_forum

My forum prefix is df_

I installed a few php scripts on our website with only minor problems occasionly. I believe i entered the databases and prefix correctley and followed the manual step by step slowly. It could be a typo error on my part.

I did get abit mixed up with the paths and subdomains which may be the problem;

Paths

For the forum I input /var/www/forum
and for the the gallery /var/www/gallery

URL's

my sub-domain urls are as follows;

for the Gallery http://gallery.mydomain.com

and

for the forum http://forum.mydomain.com

Thanks in advance

Right and the prefix is asked on the 4th step of install after you asked what to integrate with. This is where you enter the table prefix

Like I said either the database info to connect to vb is incorrect or the table prefix was not entered correctly in the forth step.

Now knowing this try to simply rerun install.php and make sure you enter all the info correctly. Note cookie prefix default for vb is bb.

Tryed it twice !.
Now I'm frustrated and it was supposed to be easy.

Step 4 of installation procedure - Just pointed everything to the forum this time for ease of management

Sub-Step 1 , 2 & 3 went fine - no errors

Sub step 4 - configuring photopost!

integration : VB3
admin email: obvious
url for forum: http://forum.mydomain.com

Forums database table prefix for your forum (you may have chosen this initially when you installed your forum - leave blank if none or default): BLANK
cookie prefix : bb

cookie name : BLANK
stylesheet : BLANK
WEBSITE TITLE : OK
WEB URL: OK

Path info:

URL to PhotoPost main script directory : (Accepte default)

http://www.mydomain.com/var/subdomain/gallery/html/

submit that and get my first warning as follows

Warning: mysql_fetch_row(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL
result resource in /var/www/gallery/forums/vb3.php on line 460

Step 5: PhotoPost Configuration Verification

Customize the config-int.php file

CONFIG-INT.PHP Integration Variables
Server Path to Forum directory /var/www/forum
Server Path to PhotoPost directory /var/www/gallery

URL to your forums http://forum.mydomain.com
URL to PhotoPost http://www.mydomain.com/var/subdomain/gallery/html
URL to your PhotoPost DATA directory http://www.mydomain.com/var/subdomain/gallery/html/data
PhotoPost Database Table Prefixes : pp_
vB2 & VB3 INTEGRATION

All 4 off

Do you want to enable the vB2Portal Integration which uses your vB2 Portal headers and footers? OffOn
If enabled, Server Path to vBPortal directory

step 6 : save

Installation complete and prompt ok

Prompted

Installation Complete!

setp 7 deleted install.PHP

Still doesnt work - lots of errors

Warning: mysql_fetch_row(): supplied argument is not a valid
MySQL result resource in /var/www/gallery/forums/vb3.php on line 299

Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid
MySQL result resource in /var/www/gallery/forums/vb3.php on line 25

Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid
MySQL result resource in /var/www/gallery/forums/vb3.php on line 54

Please detail clearly were I am going wrong and steps I must take to fix it.

But your missing the same entry every time you install which is what I told you.

You told me directly in a post above your vbulletin forum table prefix is df_

You keep leaving this blank

Thanks Chuck,

Your right, you did say that. I'll have another go tomorrow at putting the forum prefix df_ in at step4 on install as Im very busy at the moment.

I put Vbulletin on in a few minutes without a problem. It seemed very robost and they boxed you in during the installation in a way that basic errors like this should or couldnt happen and expected photopost to be the same. Might be worth photopost reviewing this.

Will post back straight after my next attempt. Prob around 4pm GMT 11/03

Looking forward to using it.

Thank you for your patience.

Well see the problem is nothing that deals with in our install program here. The issue is one of inputing the proper information we ask for on install.

If you input all the proper info info we ask for when installing you will be up and running within 20mins. Thats about how long it takes to FTP and CHMOD the files and run the install program. Our install will be significantly more difficult that vbulletin always because when installing vbulletin you do not chmod files and you do not have to worry about entering variables from external programs. Now since we integrate with 16 different forums on install we ask certain information to be able to integrate with that forum. For the install to be successful it is only as good as the info provided.

Question

Point taken in your last post.

I finally got another chance to try a reinstall and used the settings you first suggest posted, especially the forum prefix df_ when I was prompted.

It all ran smoothly and I got a message at the end that the install was successful but when I run the final step

http://gallery.mydomain.com/adm-index.php

http://templates.myhost.com/ErrorPages/error404/

I've checked my config-inc.php and the password is set correctly!

I also tryed going to the forum url

http://gallery.mydomain.com/ but got the following message

Warning: chdir(): No such file or directory (errno 2) in /var/www/gallery/header-inc.php on line 60

Warning: main(./global.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/gallery/header-inc.php on line 61

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required './global.php' (include_path='.:/php/includes:/usr/share/php') in /var/www/gallery/header-inc.php on line 61

Must be getting close now.

Thanks in advance

UPDATE

I ran the install again and I got further this time.

Firstly if I go to URL http://gallery.mydomain.com/ I get the photogallery without errors and it has the look and fell of the forum which is standard.

However when I run http://gallery.mydomain.com/adm-index.php and input my username & password which are well know to me I get the following prompt

Invalid login. Please check your username and password, or register.

This is strange as my username and password are the same as my forum and other mysql databases.

So I think its installed ok but I cant administer it,

It looks to be installed ok. It seems not inputing the forum database prefix was the main problem. However I had to run the install twice with the prefix to get it going.

Just some login & whitelist problems. I'll have a hunt on the support forum for answers.

Many thanks Chuck for your patience & help.

No Problem

whitelist is in your vb options in admin of vb you need to put the subdomain for photopost under there to allow logins
