Trouble with ImageMagic

I have a new install of PP. I set up my gallery with GD 1 as that is installed on my dedicated server. I tried ImageMagic and it didn't work. So, I did a locate command on mogrify and found it at usr/bin/morgiry. So after changing that option in config_inc.php then Imagemagic worked and it made much better looking thumbs than GD1.

But it won't rotate images. It fails every time. with an error message like this:

Error rotating image!!
Error code: 218
/usr/bin/mogrify -rotate 270
/home/www/tdpri.com/telephoto/data/517/MVC-007F.JPG

So I went back to GD1 and it was able to rotate images but the thumbs are grainy looking. So I went back to Imagemagic.

Is there some way to get IM to work on rotating photos?

Thanks
Paul

I am having the same problem,

My hosting provider (hostgator.com) says they have it, and I verified.
I dont have ssh access so I wrote a script that does:

which mogrify >> /home/user/output.txt

and it sure enough says:

/usr/bin/mogrify

But during the install, it fails and says it cant find mogrify.

I also had another problem with Esvon classifieds where it needed convert
(part of ImageMagic) and HostGator support said it is in /usr/bin

But the install failed??!?!

I will be investigating this and let you know if I come up with anythnig.

Ciao...

Is there some way of doing that that I dont know about with console (ssh access?)

Please do tell!

No we or you can not install it without SSH access. You must have SSH access and use of the GCC compiler since it is a program that requires compiling

Command:

"/usr/bin/mogrify" -quality 70 -geometry 250x166 '/home/outlaw/public_html/classifieds/data/3/large/17.jpg'

My problem isn't a bad install of IM. IM is working to do everything except rotating images.

What can I do to fix this. This was the content of my original question.

This my response was to reinstall Imagemagick based on the instructions given.

We can debate here back and forth but since Imagemagick is a compiled server program the only way to fix anything is to reinstall. I did link the instructions above.
