Send a message via Yahoo to glowinggal
users with some trouble uploading?

Below is a note received in our forums today about uploading a layout to the gallery:

I get everything typed in and then it goes to the blank green screen "preparing to process image list" and freezes. Nothing. It says click here if you are not automatically redirected, but that does nothing as well.

I'm clueless what this one could be? Any idea? I've had a few mention the sasme thing off and on the last few weeks. We are running: 5.21. I am aware there is an upgrade to 5.3 but will this actually resolve the above or would it be a stab in the dark. What I wondered is if there is something solid that might be causing this or just possibly a quirk in the script, etc?

I beleive this issue was already addressed by a prior ticket you had.

However this issue always deals with GD2 and being clogged up to the point where GD2 causes memory issues for PHP to fail on the server.

The fix is multifold

1. limit filesizes to an acceptable limit. Do not give GD2 the chance to fail

2. Alter the uploadphoto.php file with the ini_set variable noted in many posts. I know you have this info already.

3. Clear the uploads directory entirely of all files and directories. Since uploads is 777 user directories will be created again.

Now if you want to bypass this whole issue ask your host if your running mogrify on the server? If so you can use that instead of GD and it does not use PHP memory.

Hi Chuck,

I seem to be having the same problem on my server. Can you post the changes to uploadphoto.ini so I can try that as well? I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with my uploads as well. Thanks!

Ok, heres an error I see when attempting to upload photos using IE. I looked at the uploads directory and it appears that the file is transferred to the server. It simply halts with this error and does not get past the "Preparing to process image list"

That looks to me like some error in your header code as Line 19 would be up there in.

Ok, I already have that entry in my uploadphoto.php file. I added it awhile back for other reasons. Do you know the command line to restart GD2 ?

restart gd2?

You dont restart gd2 its part of PHP you need to restart your server although I dont see why you would need to.
