New install of v5.3 can't see MySQL v4.1.15

When installing fresh Photopost v5.3 I get this error after configuring the config-inc.php successfully.

I cannot connect to the PhotoPost MySQL server. [host:$host][mysql_user:$mysql_user][mysql_password:$mysql_password]. Check your config-inc.php for the correct settings and rerun.

I'm able to login to the database via the command line. I'll PM the URL of the install for security reasons if anyone can take a look from photopost.

and when I hit the index page, just to see what it does or complains about for any more clues, why does it say it's "Review Post" when I'm trying to install Photopost?

I cannot connect to the ReviewPost database. [$php_errormsg]

As long as you are entering the correct details you should get a connection.

Turned out to be an issue with the newer version of My
SQL. This was the first user account/DB created with the newer version that uses the newer password hashing scheme. See: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/old-client.html for more details.

Install completed but ends at a blank white screen. Any ideas? I'm investigating that now.

It's all sorted out. It turned out to be a missing double quote in the config-int.php file on the photopost table prefix. It's now working as expected. Integration can now be viewed at http://www.powerboatsonly.com/gallery
