When you upgrade the upgrade instructions state to upload the files and run upgrade.php and select the required upgrades.

You have not ran your upgrade script. Make sure you have uploaded all the new required files especially those in the forums directory under the download

Do not run any upgrades I did that part for you . All you should need to do at this point is make sure all the files are 5.3 that are uploaded.

Oh I could just kiss you! I did run the upgrade script but I must have been doing something wrong, I still am receiving an error
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: update_whoonline() in /home/memlayout/www/photopost41/pp-inc.php on line 484
Any chance you can help me figure out what that is about?

Yes as stated upload the proper new files. You missed some

update_whoonline is a function that is in the forum integration file in the forums subdirectory of the product.

Ok that worked fine, and thank you so much for being patient with me, I am by no means a whiz at php, now for hopefully my final problem when I try to logon to my admin I get this error
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare dirsize() (previously declared in /home/memlayout/www/photopost41/adm-main.php:17) in /home/memlayout/www/photopost41/adm-inc.php on line 680

I deleted the adm-main.php but then I would get a page not found so I have re-uploaded it in the hopes that you may be able to help me. Also if you look at my website the gallery looks a bit off

Hello as stated please upload all the new files.

It is probally best for you to take the distribution and delete the following folders and files from it and upload the remainder to your install

DELETE THESE

uploads directory
data directory

install.php
upgrade.php
header.htm
footer.htm
config-int.php
config-inc.php

Now upload everything else and you should be fine.
