Upgrading to 5.3 from 5.13

Ok, first of all, where have I been? I just discovered that our site is totally behind with the upgrades and now I need to jump a few steps to get up to the most current version. That's what happens when you do a major reno to your house, lol!

So I downloaded the 5.3 version and I am a little confused here. I know I had to make some manual mods to my 5.13 version to make it so that private album photos are not shown in the comshow.php file, I think it was a manual fix to put 2 images in the Random Photos section on the front page, and to make my stylesheet work properly, I had to manually fix some errors which dealt with closing table tags within at least one file. So, I am concerned, if I just upload the new 5.3 version over my 5.13 version, am I going to have to go back and figure out what it is I did before to fix these problems? Is there a specific list of changes in this upgrade that I can manually update the software rather than just overwriting everything? I am apprehensive to make changes if I am going to be faced with the problems I had when I first installed....

Please advise!

Julie

You basically would have to upload all the files except the config files and run upgrade.php and select the upgrades from 5.1 to 5.3

You can view the announcements forum to view changes since 5.13

I have followed all of the directions
- did not upload the config-inc.php or config-int.php
- ran the upgrade from version 5.1x
- got an error and then did upgrade.php?upgrade=40&step2&fixvbversion=1 but I am getting an error still.

My error is:

Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/swede/public_html/gallery/forums/phpbb2.php on line 72

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/swede/public_html/gallery/pp-inc.php on line 2966

So what do I do now? Help!

Julie

Julie you must be running phpBB 2.018 or above. phpBB changed there authentication and we updated our integration to account for this.

Upgrading phpbb is a snap. Just upload all the phpbb files except config.php. You might want to make a backup of yor old overall_header.tpl file in your templates style directory if you have like a real modified header. Upload all files and run http://www.domain.com/phpbb/install/..._to_latest.php

thats it. Then remove the install and contrib directories

I have upgraded my phpbb (although it was NOT a snap since I have so many mods, LOL), but now I have an issue with photopost again. It is working OK except for the comments on the index.

On the front page I have selected to have the comments column show (via the admin control panel), but it is only showing the images and comments that were new BEFORE I did the upgrade.

Here is what it shows: http://www.scrapbookingswede.com/gallery/index.php
But when you select the "more" next to Recent comments (to get to http://www.scrapbookingswede.com/gallery/comshow.php) you see that the newest ones are not the ones on the front page.

What file is controlling this, and how do I fix it?

Thanks,
Julie

Hello

In Admin => Global Options turn off the category cache.

I temporarily solved the problem by doing a database scan, but then it only updated to the point where I did the scan and all new comments are not showing again. I will also turn off the category cache and see if that helps - thanks!
