New Install failing

When opening install.php I get the following msg:

my config-inc.php file is writeable.

The files your meantioning in this error are not referenced or included in our install.php file. There are no files with those names anywhere without our package. In fact we dont even have a includes directory nor do we have an install directory.

I think you are trying to run some other programs install file and not ours.

Our install file is located within the photopost directory

You were right... sorry. I have just installed phpbb and in my sleep deprived haze (I have twin boys) I had somehow installed phpbb's install directory inside photopost.

I've corrected that, and am in the midst of installing. I am a novice at this type of thing, and I don't want to screw anything up.

In step 1, I imagine that I should leave all of the photopost database info as is in the install window.

I don't know what I should enter for User Database Host or User Database Name. I would imagine User and Password are the same ones that I am using for phpbb forum?

Yes photopost database you put photopost database details and for user database you put phpbb database info

In step 3, I now get this message:

I cannot connect to the PhotoPost MySQL server. [host:$host][mysql_user:$mysql_user][mysql_password:$mysql_password]. Check your config-inc.php for the correct settings and rerun.

As you can probably tell, I am not a computer person. We just want to have a gallery on our website!

Hello

You would need to make sure the mysql information you are telling the install program is correct.

Recheck and enter this information as needed in the config and try again.
