Trouble with Installation on WIN Server??

OK My site is being hosted with GoDaddy, which I am quickly learing is not quite as good as I originally had hoped. Anyhow, I have set up a couple of VB3s without any trouble.

I modified and uploaded PP today and can't get past this:

"We are unable to open the config-inc.php file for writing (nor can we change the permissions.
Please make the config-inc.php writable so we can save your information and restart your install."

I can not modify permissions through FTP so I gave the directory permissions through the host but it still will not work. When I run phpinfo it does show that safe_mode is ON on both master and local. Do I need to have GoDaddy turn off safe_mode??? Or am I doing something else wrong??

Had anyone else installe on a Windows Server on GoDaddy?

Thanks for the help
Chris

Hello

Yes you need safe mode off and the ability to set file and directory permissions as stated on the install instructions. I beleive only one or two godaddy hosting environments are good. Possible have them move you to a linux hosting server with safe mode off. I believe they use windows for there cheap accounts. There are also plenty of great hosting accounts for a decent price if you need any suggestions.

Chuck,

Thanks for the help. I went ahead last night and changed to UNIX which helped the rest of the install run smooth. I do have another problem though.

After going through the install process I am having some trouble logging in to the admin area. I have linked PP to my VB3 but when I log on to PP it won't let me enter the admin area OR upload any photos. Also when I click on the register or forgot password link from /adm-index.php it links to the incorrect forum location (my directory is FORUMS not FORUM) and I entered the correct path in the config-int.php file.

Please help.

Thanks
Chris

easy one check these two things

Did you on install enter the cookie prefix which by default is bb? if not you can either rerun install or edit in phpmyadmin setting 172 and input this prefix

Check your config-inc.php file and ensure that you have entered the correct vbulletin license number on your $vblicense line

Ok,

I fixed the cookie and made sure the liscense was correct. I can access the admin panel and everything now flows but I still can't upload pictures. It tells me I don't have permission. Please inform.

Thanks
Chris
