my host says that 777 is very insecure and doesnt allow me to install. They only allow 755 max. Must photopost pro be set at 777????

Most any application that has to do with file uploads will state the directories must be 777.

I can not tell you that it would work with 755 sorry.

755 would work if apache owns the directory. 777 is insecure but there's no avoiding it the way most servers are setup. You could try asking your host to chown the required directories to apache.
