Thumbnail in Category & Albums?

Is there a way to specify a thumbnail in the cell to the left of Categories on the main page? I have seen some sites that have that. Is this something that can be specified in the control panel? I can't find it if it is. I would like to have a thumbnail for each Category, and maybe sub categories.

Related... is there a way to specify a specific thumbnail for an album, instead of having it be the last loaded image? How? Can it be just a thumbnail, without a coresponding uploaded image?

Hello a specific thumbnail for a cat must be an uploaded image.

You can make sure use category avatars is on in admin index options and when you view a photo you will as admin see a link saying MAKE INDEX THUMB

If you click this it wil make it that cats index thumb

Thanks, that works well for categories but is there a way to do the same thing in the top Gallery line? I don't see a similar option.

In addition to wanting a photo to the left of Member Galleries, I'd like to

specify a fixed image for each of my photo Albums (rather than a changing one) AND
specify an image that is attached to my name, when listing multiple albums by different users (for my grouping of albums).

Is that possible?

BTW, is there a user's manual for PhotoPost somewhere?

members gallery can have an index thumb it has to be an image your tagging that actually exists in the members gallery cat 500

I don't follow what your trying to do but albums do not have index thumbs since they are not shown on index page

When you click on Member Galleries, you are presented with a number of different users.

1) I'd like my name to be associated with a fixed photo, not the last photo posted.

Then, when you click on a member, you are presented with their albums.

2) I'd like to fix a photo to the album, instead of having the last photos that was posted.

Hello okay member's gallery is suppose to show the last photo uploaded.

Albums though you can assign an album thumb when viewing your albums under my albums and edit an album

Let me give you an example of why this is a problem

If you go to my photopost site, you will see some categories under "Collections". There is "Arrowhead", "Knives" and "Calculator". But if you click on any of those, you get a photo of a Phantom F4 Jet Fighter. That is very confusing to those that want to view photos. If they click "Arrowhead" they expect the next view to be related to Arrowheads.

Now, that is why I would rather specify a fixed photo for all galleries. I could put a generic photo. It would be better though, that if one clicks a collection of photos under a category, that the gallery for those photos, would be related to the category.

Just my thoughts on this. I think all navigations should be a user friendly interfaces.

Your using group by member as the sort it is going to show the last uploaded image if you dont like that sort use any one of the other sorts

I'm not sure why this request is so difficult to explain.

I'm not asking about any kind of sort order. I want a fixed image, for galleries within an category. That is, when category is grouped by "member", I'd like to have the representative image, to be one from the specific category and not just the latest uploaded (to any category) by that member.

I have a catagory index here.

If you click "Mike's Arrowhead Collection", you get a photo of a Phantom Jet. I'd like to fix and arrowhead image to that category. It is illogical, to show a photo of a jet fighter in a Category of Arrowheads (although they may look similar, they are not). In fact, that jet photo, isn't even in the photos for that category.

I know I could have an Album and do this, but I prefer a Category so that everyone can upload to taht category and have an image that reflects the category.

In admin panel > Edit Category > Category Layout > If you set to - Photo Gallery ...
... you will only have pics from that category, but it won't be default Group by Member per cat. Group by Member can be selected in the sort dropdown per category.

The problem that you pointed out with Group By Member - last uploaded photo thumb is not from the cat uploaded to - is a stickler for me too and the main reason I don't select the default cat view as Group by Member - very confusing to the viewer.

Hopefully bright minds at PhotoPost will be able to find a solution.
