Registration Control - Must have answer before I install

I understand that I can use my vBulletin Registration database, instead of the PhotoPost system.

I will be using only one database for both my forum software and PhotoPost. There are two places where one must insert username and password. So, since I'm using only one database, I would expect both of these to be the same.

However, I'm confused about the quote below (bolded and important) in the installation instructions.
Quote:
"If you plan to use PhotoPost's internal user registration system rather than interfacing with a forum user database, make sure that $database and $database_bb are both set to the same PhotoPost database"
This suggests that if the are both the same, I'm using the PhotoPost registration, instead of the vBulletin system.
  • I wish to have one registration system
  • I wish all my current registered users to be automagically registered for PhotoPost
  • I don't want to change anything about how my vBulletin registration works
So, should I have the same thing for database and password? Why does doing this suggest that I'm using the internal PhotoPost instead of the forum registration system? I'm confused on this point and need it cleared up before I click the install.

What that means is if your using a standalone retype the same database info you entered for photopost database where it asks for user database info

Your fine just enter the proper database info and continue pick external integration choose vb3 and answer everything correctly

There are SQL errors if both aren't filled out.

Right that is correct. I stated above if you use a standalone you it is telling you to place the photopost info in there for user database otherwise you place your forum database info here

This is what I get if I just fill in User Database Host (enter same info as above if not integrating with a third party forum)

Quote:
Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: NO) in /home/webregit/public_html/cctvforums/photopost/install.php on line 547
I cannot connect to the PhotoPost MySQL server. [host:$host][mysql_user:$mysql_user][mysql_password:$mysql_password]. Check your config-inc.php for the correct settings and rerun.

I would like it to use my VB database only, yet PhotoPost fills in its information that it wants.

Okay your not understanding the installation process at all here.

You need to input database information IN BOTH SPOTS.

In photopost database enter the vbulletin database info where photopost tables will be installed

In user database enter the vbulletin database info

So your going to input the same info twice as I stated

I understand the instructions as ipscone does above. It says (to me) in the instructions, fill out BOTH parts if you want to run PhotoPost as a standalone. I don't want a standalone.

This means only fill in ONCE to integrate into VB (to use the VB Database).

No it does not mean only fill it in ONCE.

It says if your using an internal install enter the same info in the user database spot therefore your entering the same info twice

This is less confusing.

The instructions state exactly what I have said. What does this say to you? This is right on install config screen when you install

But we are integrating with a third party forum. Does it say fill in database info twice for integrating into the VB database? I'm lost.

You entered on the last step of install the path to your forum incorrectly. If you edit config-int.php and correct your $vbpath you should be fine

It was incorrect, but I still get this error
Quote:
Warning: chdir(): No such file or directory (errno 2) in /home/webregit/public_html/cctvforums/photopost/header-inc.php on line 60

Warning: main(./global.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/webregit/public_html/cctvforums/photopost/header-inc.php on line 61

Warning: main(./global.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/webregit/public_html/cctvforums/photopost/header-inc.php on line 61

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required './global.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/webregit/public_html/cctvforums/photopost/header-inc.php on line 61
Do I have to edit header-inc.php on lines 60 and 61
My paths are as follows
$vbpath = "/home/webregit/public_html/cctvforums/forums";
$pppath = "/home/webregit/public_html/cctvforums/photopost";
If so, whta would be path to global.php?

Thanks for all your help!
