Error: cannot connect to the Users database

New install that is integrating w/ my vb3.5 forum.

Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user 'myusername'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in /usr/home/prod/domains/ridgelineownersclub.com/public_html/photopost/install.php on line 1237
I cannot connect to the Users database.

I have reviewed the settings on the first page numerous times and the VB database information is correct.

Any suggestions? Thanks all.

The error is absolute the information entered for the vb database is incorrect.

Check that you dont have a space or something after the name or something anything can throw it off so recheck it ;)

Still working on this... thanks.

No problem if cutting and pasting try deleting and enter the information manually that might help you

Just open up the vb config file and take the info from there

Chuck, my site host and I both copied and pasted all settings directly from our vbulletin config file and still had errors. There were no spaces anywhere, front or back.

We created a new user in the vbulletin database and then used that new user as the one in the PhotoPost setup. This worked, though I'm getting a few other errors (unrelated to this) now. I'm sure you'll see those.

Thanks for your help on this one, but it's still a head scratcher. :)

I know this is an old post - but I am going through exactly the same issues - and I believe there is a problem with special characters in the password field at the point of config where it must pass the password value.

I was doing exactly the same thing - copying/pasting the DB username and passwords directly from my VB config file into the photopost config screen - and EVERY TIME it would not connect - I also verified no trailing or leading spaces, slashes, etc - but I did finally notice that if I re-entered the installation screen fresh - all the values were set as I had set them EXCEPT the password field - and every time - it truncated the password value I had typed/pasted after the $ sign, leaving only the first three alpha characters in the password field.

Once I created a new DB user and gave that an alpha-only password - it went right through.

Yes with PHP you can not use $ I beleive in the password since $ is the sign of a php variable declaration

Interesting - since that is the password on the vbulletin database (which is all php) - (and still is) - and the vbulletin forums work fine now and always have since installing it.

I copied/pasted the password directly from the vbulletin config file which is active and working. But on the photopost installation - it won't work.

Having the same problem - PhotoPost updated to the latest version. Trying to connect to the VB3 user database and getting the same error.

belindaj try making a new user password combo that can access the vb database etc and install photopost

vlad recheck your database info in the config.
