How much processing is required for adding watermarks? I am rolling around with two different pathways to go. The first is making my install so that unregistered users uploads are slapped with watermarks so that it kind of promotes my site at the same time. The 2nd route of course is to not watermark the images in the first place hoping that more people might upload content. 1. So I was wondering... how much processing does it take for the server to put a watermark on the images? I haven't even setup the watermarking yet, but do you know off hand if it slows the upload /processing of images very much? (I have 10 upload fields) 2. Regularly without watermarks Photopost doesn't even touch the native version of the image unless it's larger than the specified pixel sizes, so if I put watermarks on them it has to do more stuff with that image. So my question is, when it's adding the watermark to these large /full sized images, does it do any compression on them? So that the "Quality setting for resizing/thumbnails?" setting would also compress the full sized images? Thanks. |
Hello watermarking does not take much processing time and as it has not affect on the other picture resizing quality settings. The overlay image is either overlayed or permanently attached to the images based on watermark versus image size ratios |
