Question photopost all installed, now users cant login

I am on photopost 5.2 and using vb 3.5.0

I managed to get everything installed and i can see the photopost login page.
in the admin panel it says i have 200 users (correct). However when I log in as one of the users, it takes me to the vb3.5.0 login (says its successful), then back to the photopost home page on my site, but it doesn't actually show the user being logged in.

What do I need to do to get the rest of the site configured?

The user that I am attempting to login as is a member of a usergroup that is allowed to see/post/upload photos (I added the permissions).

Also the current layout of my site is this

domain.com
vb3talk forum
photopost

two directories at the same level. Do I need to make one a parent of the other? does that matter?

Thanks

It sounds to me like cookies

You need to have the following the same in both apps.

cookie path /

cookie domain .domain.com

cookie prefix bb

then in photopost make sure in the config file the vb license number is entered where it asks for it

thanks for your help so far -- still can't access

Currently i can't even get to the adm-index page as the administrator. it goes thru the login successfully but then takes me back to the photopost board and i'm not logged in

in vb i have the following settings

cookie prefix: tb
cookie path: /tbtalk/
cookie domain: .thunderbirdtalk.com

on the photopost I have it set to the same value.
Do i need to include the ';' character on the photopost version?

the license is correct.

What next?

Your cookie path is all wrong

It needs to be / to be site wide

Thanks,

I set the cookie path to be site wide in both tables (vb and pp)

Now I can login and do things as the master administrator (including upload photos).

However if i login as a normal user, it goes through the normal login process and ends up back at the photopost screen and it doesn't show the person being logged in.

Any clues?

If your logged in as admin a regular user should surely work as well. Make sure you set the proper usergroup settings if you dont see certain links for them

What links should i be looking for?

I can log in fine to vb3.5.0 on the vb3.5.0 i can't find any links to the photopost board.

if i go to my photopost board directory and do the following:
login using adm-index.php i can connect as my main administrator (it takes me to the main photopost index page where I can click on Admin or upload photos to do my stuff)

login using index.php (no matter who i connect as (main admin or a user) it logs me in but redisplays the photopost main page and i'm not logged in.

What am I doing wrong?

You can post a link and test regular user account here and I can try it and tell you if anything is wrong

Looks to me like cookies are not right

http://www.thunderbirdtalk.com/pixpost

I've got the same settings for cookies on both sides.

You can see whats going on.

If you log into http://www.thunderbirdtalk.com/tbtalk you can do it no problem. [I'm not sure what links should show up to let the person see the other site (pixpost)].

i'm a total newbie to photopost and relatively new to vb3.5.0

I logged in just fine with that user and even posted a pic to prove I was logged in

I dont see any issues at with the login

If you have some user's having issues maybe they are not setting cookies on there computer. Photopost works with cookies

Wow you are amazing Thanks.

I'm a bit confused though, i guess where i was testing mozilla and linux it was getting messed up on the cookies (but i did change the cookie settings so maybe that was the mess up).

Thank you for your help. I just tried it to and it is working.

I have a few more questions but i'll post them in a different question
