New Window on View

When you select an image in my gallery, for some reason it automatically opens a new brower window. Is there any way to change this?

yes in showphoto options in admin turn off the big window display. It's like the last showphoto option

That option is already turned off. The new browser opens when you click on *any* image or link - not just large images.
