| File Size adjustments - number of posts per day
Okay, Coppermine user that is new to PP.
In CM, it was easy to set the size of the image and ImageMagik automatically resized those for you when you uploaded a picture that was too big for the screen. I have imported all the photos over from CM into PP, but the size of some of the pictures is HUGE!!! I think the default setting is 2500 x 2500, if I lower that will it adjust the viewed image or only tell people that the file is too big and needs to be adjusted before they can upload it?
Also, users (including admin) are only allowed to post one picture per day, where can I change that.
I want people to be able to post unlimited amounts of photos and also not to have a limit on the amount of photos (size of their albums) they upload.
Help!
Mike

You would set your max image height and width you want
I would suggest you set the medium size to something like say 500 or 600 and rebuild all mediums this will create mediums for all those big pics

| What about the number of posts per day?
I am being told that users can only post one picture per day, they get a message if they try to upload a second pic.
Also, is there somewhere like in Coppermine where I can set the storage space limits for each user? We had it set at like 10MB I think for Coppermine, can that be set up through PP?

| Won't adjust the images
If I try to run it on all categories it hangs, goes to a "Cannot display this page" error. If I try it on just a category at a time it just says finished, except for one called Main and that hangs as well. There are 651 photos in the gallery, is that too many to adjust at once?
By default, the setting is at 600. The other width and height is set at 2500 x 2500. Do I need to adjust those as well?
"Max allowable image width in pixels" This is set at 2500 Do I need to change this to 600?
What does this mean? "Trigger medium graphic height and width"

600 would be trigger medium size and then you can do rebuild medium images
As far as your user's having 1 upload a day this ties in with your other admin access issue it sounds like while applying permissions for your user's the wrong things where set. in admin reset usergroup permissions

| Did that
The setting was already at 600, so I left it there and tried to rebuild the DB but nothing happens.
It times out.

I went for the big kahuna again and tried all, and it took forever but it seemed to work. I have checked the gallery and there are some huge pictures, but they are re-sized and have a link to them.
Now if I change 2500 x 2500 to 600 x 600, what happens? Will the user trying to upload the photo get a message telling them they need to resize the image? That would be nice.

I suggest you can keep your size maybe to 1024x768 and choose to show large image in new window and keep medium at 600 that is how I do it
That way we resize larger ones to an acceptable large image and a medium image is created which doesnt throw off your tables and opening the 1024x768 image in a new window is good.

| Thanks for the help!
I changed the settings, that was what I suggested to the owner of this site so I went with that.
Now that there are images that have already been uploaded, is there a way with the scan database feature to resize those images? If not, no big deal.

You can resize medium and thumbnails under scan database but not the large sizes
