| PP 5.14: Merging/Importing several PP 5.14 galleries
PP 5.14: Merging/Importing several PP 5.14 galleries
Hi
We are considering to merge several PP 5.14 installations into one PP install. It would be just less daily work for the admin...
- All are PP 5.14
- All are internal registrations, no forum integrations.
- All use the same category names
- all use the same usergroup sections
But all have different users, very few users are overlapping.
These will be at least 6 different PP installations, merging to one single PP installations. The old ones will be deleted afterwards, since there is no use for it anymore.
How can I transfer/import/merge all
- images
- comments below the images
- usersnames
- passwords
- mail addresses
without loosing data or my users having too much work?
Thanks in advance

Not really something easy to do
Since you will have multiple user 3's photos 6's etc you would need to write some kind of script to remap those users and photos id and userid numbers to a level that will allow them to be written to the one database.
You can not insert a query with the same id into a database where it already exists if you follow here

o.k., that is, what I guessed too...
So what other options I do have to make it without a script? Would this be a working possibility:
Step1: Change in ACP to registration without verification mail
Step 2: Add manually all users from the other galleries in ACP with their mail address one by one
Step 3. ??? How to copy their password? with copy/paste of mysql table? Or can I force them to get a random password that they have to approove?
Step 4: upload in ACP the images to the corresponding username
Step 5: ??? How to get their albums in the new install?
Step 6: ??? How to get the comments over? Impossible?
So step 3, step 5 and step 6 would be with this procedure my headache..
Any ides how to do that? Any better/easier way to do this without a script?

I would not even contemplate doing anything manually as its quite impossible.
You can use phpmyadmin to copy over the inserts etc but your still left with the task of renumbering all photos and userid's for comments users photos the whole nine yards

I could bulkupload from i.e. user 1 all images as admin. Afterwards I could go into ACP and chnage the name of the owner for each image. Maybe this chnage of owner name can be made with one button for all images uploaded in a specific category (i.e. "import category")
I could then ask the users to sort their stuff in the right category for themselves.
I guess for the comments, this will be impossible without a script, right?

well you would write a script other wise you need to manually import all the user's and photos by registering every user and uploading photos as the user
quite a task to say the least for one install let alone 5 others

Hi chuck,
I sent you already twice an e-mail for a quote for this hack.
I am strongly interested in this (along with the other classifieds hack), so please come back to me asap so that I can see whether I can afford only one hack or all 2 together!
Thanks
