Problem upgrading/new install

Hi, I just downloaded 5.2

Stuck it in a new dir ./gallery
And then I copied the data dir (all my pics) to this new dir. This was from an old installation of 4.8 I think.

Updated all the config inc and int files with the correct info.

I then ran the upgrade script, there was a couple of errors on one of the upgrades, sorry I don't know which... But I eventually got to the 5.2 upgrade and it finished.

Structure looks just as it used to, but no images? and the links don't seem to work either

Any ideas what's wrong? Or what I can do to make it work?

I'm using the same databse for vb3 (latest 3.5 version) and for photopost.

Thanks for any help,
KA

Ok now I tried to do a rescan and rebuild in the PP admin panel, and it appears to have deleted all but about 14 images from the database?

So I can now see 14 images in the gallery, but the rest appear to be gone, what can I do to get the rest back?

Thanks for your time

I restored the photos table from a backup and it's now saying 2200+ images again, but I still can't see them.

You can see 2 images at the bottom, but why aren't the rest working?

edit: i'm now in the process of restoring an entire backup.

edit2: i did the db restore, but now I can't even see inside the categories. Please, any ideas?

Well First thing you need to do is this

1. restore the photos table before the upgrade process.

2. CORRECT ALL PATHS AND URL'S WITHIN YOUR SETTINGS TABLE. This is utmost as they are all over the place at this point from what I see. Example your data url doesnt even go to the data directory. You click showphoto and its trying to find the scripts under the forums directory in a gallery directory

3. Once you have all the paths and urls correct you should be fine to run the upgrade 485/486 script and move and rename files. Note your data directory path needs to be correct and 777. Once run the script ONCE.

Ahh Thank you omegatron, very clever guy!

I had adjusted these settings in the config files, but didn't realise there was a table too. But now I have changed these settings also, thanks

The links to showgallery and showphoto work now, but the images still don't show.

So it's not putting data in, and it's also placing "12" before the image name :/

Any ideas what could be wrong? I double checked the settings table and they are all correct for data dir.

Also, FYI:
old url: forum.idlewilder.co.uk/gallery

new url: gallery.idlewilder.co.uk

Well I beleive I stated before this. Your data path is incorrect check in it your admin global options.

Your missing the data part if its looking for images right off the gallery

Next the userid's you need to actually run once all paths are right the 485/486 upgrade script to move and rename the files to 5.0 series format

Hmm, not really sure what I can tell you, but:

Full SERVER PATH to PhotoPost data directory
Full path to the image files directory.

/home/xxx/public_html/gallery/data/

xxx=username (people seem to star this out, so I have too)

You see those 2 images here are working again (or at least the thumnails)

Very odd!

Maybe I just have to run the upgrade script?

Well your datab path already looks fine now

It looks like to me you ran 485/486 on a 5.0 series database

example

http://gallery.idlewilder.co.uk/data...house-news.jpg

THIS EXISTS BUT YOUR LOOKING FOR THIS

http://gallery.idlewilder.co.uk/data...house-news.jpg

What I would suggest is this

restore the photos table and run the upgrade from 5.0 forward only and see what happens.

Maybe you where just mistaken which version you had of the software

Thank you for your help omegatron!

I think I may have run the wrong upgrade script then

Nevermind, I will delete the photos table and import a backup.
I'll report back to you when I have run the 5.0 upgrade.

Thanks again

Me again

I have now gone back to a photos table from before any changes.
I reloaded the page, and all the images work! :O

Now does this mean everything is ok and I don't have to run any upgrade scrips?
I thought I would check with you first, incase I make things worse (again!)

EDIT: Looks like I spoke too soon!
The thumbnails work, but not the main pictures. I will assume I have to run the 5.0 upgrade afterall.

Please if you could confirm this, I will go ahead.

Thanks for all your help

well why is your image path set to this

http://gallery.idlewilder.co.uk/509/euro_small.JPG

Note there is no data there. Until you find where your incorrectly setting the data path I dont know

You can run the 5.0 -5.2 upgrades as nothing would harm you there

Is watermark.php being used to serve the images try turning this off

Thanks omegatron, I checked and watermarking is disabled.

I will do a final check through the config file and the 'settings' table for the data dir settings. But I didn't find any thing before..

After that - I'll do the upgrade and see what we're left with

Ohhh very clever! This must be a new option that 4.8 didn't have - as I've never seen it before

Images seem to be working now, excellent job!

I re-ran that upgrade script and it gave me errors saying the field already existed etc. So I assume I'm all finished now

Many thanks Chuck for your efforts, I was quite worried to begin with.. so I'm very happy now
