Unhappy Hellllllppppp! Install works but admin login fails...

I'm doing a first install. After three failed install attempts and database deletions and deletes and reuploads of all the software and careful resetting of all the permissions, I'm looking for help, please. On the first two installs I made minor errors of my own. So I can't blame that on the installer. BUt after the third install, everything LOOKS fine in the config-inc and config-int files but I'm still getting errors when I try to login as the admin.

I'm installing at an IP address temporarily and not the ultimate designated domain because we have not yet repointed the client's domain to our server. I changed all the parameters to reflect this... So my my IP address is 66.221.218.52 and the url of the PP Classifieds is http://66.221.218.52/pp-classifieds-242

The install runs fine. The only issue is that I must change your guess for the /home/www/steppinoutnewmexico/pp-classifieds-242 to /home/steppinoutnewmexico/www/pp-classifieds-242 since that's the path for the installed copy of pp-classifieds-242

But this time when I finished the install (without any errors) and went to the admin login screen, I get the following errors when I try to login:

Warning: main(mainfile.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in homewwwsteppinoutnewmexicopp-classifieds-242header-inc.php on line 254

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required 'mainfile.php' (include_path='') in /home/www/steppinoutnewmexico/pp-classifieds-242/header-inc.php on line 254

I KNOW those darned paths were changed in the install script and the config-int and config-inc files show that they WERE. So where is this thing getting those backwards paths from and WHY is the first error message missing all the slashes?

Can you tell me how to fix this, please?

Thanks!

Followup

Okay I fixed that error. The cause of the problem seemed to be that I left off the final character in the path to my forums.

Now, instead, I'm getting this error:

Warning: main(./global.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/www/steppinoutnewmexico/pp-classifieds-242/header-inc.php on line 61

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required './global.php' (include_path='') in /home/www/steppinoutnewmexico/pp-classifieds-242/header-inc.php on line 61

Any suggestions? I'm headed off to look at the config files again now.

Red face This is a vicious circle...

Okay... I fixed that name of the forums and re-updated the script files. But now I'm back to the original error again. Namely,

Warning: main(mainfile.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in homewwwsteppinoutnewmexicopp-classifieds-242header-inc.php on line 254

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required 'mainfile.php' (include_path='') in /home/www/steppinoutnewmexico/pp-classifieds-242/header-inc.php on line 254

I'm gonna delete the whole darned thing and try it one more time. Sigh...

Clarification...

Can anyone tell me when on the final page of installation parameters it refers to "Server Path to Forum directory" is it referring to the PP classifieds FORUMS directory or the vbulletin forums home directory? It's really not very clear what it wants there and when I give it the pp classifieds forums directory path I get one error and when I give it the vBulletin forums home directory I get the other.

Thanks.

After examining the install scripts and the scripts producing the errors and the install instructions a bit more carefully, it looks to me like the deal is the install script assumes you're EITHER running and integrating with vBulletin or with vbPortal. But I'm running and hoping to integrate with both vb3.0.8 and vbportal 3.0.5 (latest releases of each). As a result, I set parameters for BOTH apps in the install script and that seems to be confusing it.

In such a case, what should I DO? Since the portal will essentially be in control over both apps, I assume that I should report integration with it. And let the portal guide classifieds to the right user database tables, etc.

Is that correct? Or should I opt for integrating with the forums instead?

Thanks!

Please reread the install sacript last step

You only set integration with vb3 on the last step of install. The portal switch is vbportal 2 for vb2 in that last step not vbportal 3

Vbportal3 is automatic so just set vb3 integration and you will be fine.
