| installation/upgrade questions....
OK - here's what I did - I tried to install the 5.14 ver of PP onto my site. My old ver of PP is at http://*****.com/photopost. I installed the new one at *****/pp514 thinking that it would be like a fresh version I could check out and then go back and upgrade the older ver. Well, in doing this - now neither ver works correctly. The ver tried to pick up old info and all the thumbs and photos are missing. They are on the server - just not showing up. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Here is the original PP: http://www.imaginecreatescrap.com/photopost/
Here is where I *tried* to install the upgrade: http://www.imaginecreatescrap.com/pp514/
I can't get the thumbnails to show up on either one. Last week my entire site had major problems and my server had to do a restore from back on August 5. It (supposedly) wiped out all the recent additions to the gallery also. Last night when I was transfering the uploads from my server to my HD, I came across all the "missing" files. If you could help me get my gallery back to normal that would be great! If you need it, I can PM you my info so you can get into the admin.
Thanks!
Kimber

Why did you do this though? You did not do an upgrade or a new install but something inbetween
If I where you sign into admin and correct your data and uploads and script path to use photopost and not pp514

| I thought by putting the new version into a completely new directory I could preview it before upgrading. I don't understand how putting it in a completely different directory it messed up all the files everywhere.
OK- I went back and deleted the entire pp514 directory, uploaded the files into /photopost and ran the upgrade.php script and now it's REALLY messed up. I can't access my admin at all and the thumbnails and photos still aren't there. The pp514 directory is gone but everything still wants to point there.
What a mess!!

Its not a mess at all you just need to do what I stated above
look at this http://www.imaginecreatescrap.com/pp...matchbook2.jpg
You need to either go into admin or use phpmyadmin and set your paths and url back to photopost instead of pp514
See you did an install into the SAME DATABASE OVERWRITING the urls and paths to the new install which was your mistake.

I can't access the admin files at all, but I can get to phpmyadmin. Can you tell me how to change these things through phpmyadmin?

I changed all the paths to point to the right place, the thumbnails are there, the photos are there, so that is all good. Now - it won't let me log in. It says Login Successful but I'm not actually logged in. There is still no way for me to access the Admin CP from the site.

Sounds to me like a cookie issue
What are settings 171-173 on your photopost set too in the settings table. should be if this is a default vb install something like this
cookie path /
cookie prefix bb
cookie domain blank or .domain.com

I changed the prefix, but it still didn't help. It still isn't letting me log in. I am logged in on my forum - just not on PP.

Okay well you would need to upload all the new files to your photopost as the error above is telling me its not uploaded
Your login issue may as well be related if you have not uploaded the new files.
Go ahead and upload all the new files except config files and then we can move forward if any cookie settings are out of whack
Check your invisionboard as well for cookie settings so things match.

I feel like I am being really stupid about all this. What new files do I need to upload?? I uploaded the new files for the upgrade and ran the upgrade.
I went to the forum and clicked the link that says "delete all cookies set by this board" and I still have the same problem.

You can email me your admin login and url by email and I can have a look at what you have done
You noted you uploaded the new files to a new directory not the old directory hense since you have a missing file above I am thinking you have several other new files missing which would explain most everything here
If you login to photopost is the login recognized?

I originally uploaded the files to a new directory, then after talking with you, I deleted the new directory, uploaded the new files to the old directory and then ran the upgrade. I'm sure every time I do something I am just making it worse.
The login is not recognized on PP at all. I did try to log in under another username and it still didn't recognize me, but it did change my login on the forum.
I will email you the information shortly.
