upgrade problems

Hi!

i just tried to upgrade from 4.8.1 to the latest version and got major problems...luckily i did a complete backup of old version and database before i began

the problems started after the second step when the software told me that it was moving all the images or something like that and that i neede to be patient....and then i received a lot or error messages because it didnt find:

medium
mini
thumbs
folders...there are many thousand images in our db and none of them are sorted after this in the old version...all sizes are saved in same folder

then i reloaded the page as it told me to do if i got error messages...i did and then it said that it was sucessful..ok...next step....then i started getting a lot of error messages from the program telling that it could not unlock files because they either did not exist or did not have permission to do it...i fixed this....went through the rest of the installation...but then...when i launched the page on the site...there was no images at all there..no thumbs...no medium or large image...hehe...not good..

anyone have any idea what went wrong? the data and upload folders was all 777 including the subfolders...so the reason why it was not able to "move images" was not a permission problem...

Hello

I would check your data server path and ensure it is correct. The only reason it could have for not finding images or directories is either that the path you have entered is incorrect in your global options or all those directories are not set to 777. Note that all those subdirectories need to be 777 under each data category. Maybe when the script created them your server did not allow us to set them to 777 which means you would need to.

ok...ill chmod it all again to be sure it is all 777
does the scipt make all the
medium
mini
thumbs
folder inside the cat folders automatic?

and....i have 4.8.1....does this mean that the first update i shall do is the 4.8.5 ? or the one before? or maybe the one after?

Your first upgrade is 482 then 485/486 then 5.0 then 5.1

Yes on the step1 of 485/486 upgrade we make the directories

Step2 moves the files

step3 renames the files to prepend the userid on them (make sure only to run this once)
