Multiple Domains, Cookies , Vb3 , PP

Hello,

I am currently working on a website where we would like to run photopost on its own domain and have it share the login info with a vb3 install on another domain (also ours).

For example, the vb install is located at www.menoutdoors.com/forums and the photopost install is located at www.postyourfish.com/gallery. I am curious what needs to be done to accomplish the sharing of logins.

I have set the vb cookie domain to .menoutdoors.com along with the photopost cookie domain to .menoutdoors.com. Both paths are set to / and then I set the photopost prefix to bb to correspond to vb. However I think for this application more is needed. (as the login is not working)

I am open to all suggestions, and also interested in possibly hiring someone to code this for us (if needed).

-Thank you

Hello again,

I've been researching this issue more and more. Seems as though a vanity domain may be more practical for the application as the problem would (I believe) require a rewrite of how cookies are handled in both vb3 and pp.

Although , I may be missing something simple. Please advise at your earliest convience.

Well simply put you can install the apps on different domains and use the user authentication for login etc however you will NEVER have an integrated login meaning logged into both automatically when logging into one of them

This is because cookies are written to the domain name an application is run on. There is nothing that can be done or coded for this issue. It is a limitation and simply how cookies work. Both applications need to be on the same domain if you want an integrated cookie login.

Nope cookies only work for the domain that the software is running on as stated above.
