Cool Here's a great little...erm...weird thing!

Hi..

I'll tell you what i did and in the order i did them and let you know how this went about, the softwares involved are IPB2, VB3.5beta3, PP5.13... the end result was a complete nightmare after hitting a scan database

I had integrated PP with IPB2 for some time and all was working well, i had a vb licence spare so i imported all my users/posts etc from IPB via Impex into the new vb 3.5 beta, all ok... then after various tests/setups for vb, usergroups etc.. it all funtioned rather well...

then i needed to integrate PP into the new beta ( i know it's not supported yet ) i got the new header file which Omegatron had done and planned ahead...

all went ok, really...all working ok... i had a bit of phpmyadmin fiddling to do but it was all ok... then a user on my vb forums said he had no PM's..weird so stupidly i ran a scan db in the gallery to : "Check here to resync photo/comments usernames/update comments counts"..why? i dunno... anyways somewhere during my conversion process, i'm not sure where, user i'd's had been mixed up (i think) when the scan db was done i found usernames in the gallery had been replaced or removed (but their gallery remained)...ooh the fun of it all....

and the moral is ?

ALWAYS DO A BACKUP OF YOUR DATABASE! phew!

actually the backup although saved still has misaligned user id's
for example, the user 'elepero' is a top poster, i click his link in the topposter pal to see his gallery which is ok (his user id in vbulletin is 63)

but at on the menu i have "Home » The members of mysite.com » magicmountain" (hover over his username and the id is 982) weird, but his pictures are the ones he uploaded...

same with some other users but not all... the profile info in PP is the same, the pictures a user uploaded are the same, just the usernames and i'ds have altered in PP...bugger! what would you suggest is a way to get outta this? besides restore everything back to the way it was...

Ok, i was gonna go into phpmyadmin and manually match the vb users (user id) to the user id i found for them in the photopost 'users' table, but the PP users table is empty...this makes sense obviously... but why is PP making such a mess of my existing user ID's? - btw, a newly registered user has no problems what so ever in the gallery, all is working as it should be...

must be vBulltin...hmmm i'll do some tests! (coffee & a night of blinding white screen radiation here i come)

Ok, well i think i see the problem...

While using IPB my total registered users went upto about 16000 or so, only about 6000 were active, the rest (the inactive users) i removed...

But, if someone new registered thier user id would still remain in the high 16000's or so...
(no biggy)... anyways, (converted to vbulletin)..all ok... and at present my highest vbulletin id (latest to register on my forum) is only 7000 or so.. which is correct, BUT photopost still thinks i have members with a high id, for example if i hover my mouse over a recently registered user (before the upgrade) i see an id as high as 12000 or so which doesn't exist in vbulletin...so there's my problem.

so where is PP getting these high ID's from? - ah.haaaa... i just has an epifany! , they must be in the photos table under 'userid'... ahh, right... now i get it, all i do now is alter each photo via phpmyadmin to match the users id on vbulletin..... oh poop...i'm gonna be up for at least a year doing that!

omegatron, if you have a script or something! (that would be great)

well on any Import from one forum to another userid's change especially on the vb3 impex system.

I have a script that realigns userids if ya need it Toney. Just do a clean import clean and then set Photopost to use VB3 and you can run the script I made you can email me for it.
