Upgrade from 4.82 to 5.12 errors and issues

Running on v4.82 and upgrading to v5.12 on Fedora Core 2 with PHP v4.3.10 without ImageMagick currently installed, using GD2.

During the upgrade the following errors were generated, mostly around the unlink/delete of the files. Should this be completed automatically or manually?

I'm also afraid to scan the database becuase that's when it dumps all my thumbs and images, eventhough they are still in the data directory it doesn't recognize them.

When I upload a .GIF image I see these errors temporarily but the image uploads and thumbnails just fine. How do we correct these errors.

It's a limitation of our software that you cannot watermark a GIF image when using GD to do your watermarks - you can only watermark JPG images.

To prevent a watermark from trying to be applied to your GIFs, we should add a check in place. You can modify image-inc.php at line 354 with the code in bold:

Code:

I'm getting the same errors. Did you fix your issues?

You shouldn't run the Scan DB if you got errors during the upgrade; doing so can wipe out your photos database and require you to restore your backup. If you lost your images, you'll need to go back and redo your upgrade again taking notes of the errors and working to correct them before you finish your upgrade.

If you are getting errors, I need to know exactly what they are so we can look closer at them. Making sure you have permissions properly set is critical to making the upgrade work without any problems.
