debug watermarks ?

I have watermarks working on my test (localhost) system, but nothing happens on the live system.

Running out of things to look for.

files in the right directories, config settings the same, both systems using GD>2.0.....

Why else do watermarks fail? Or how can we debug the process?

Just fishing. Please and thanks.

I have just discovered, after much pain, that the last upgrade (or was it our recent server move) has chmod'd all pics to 644. Holy Heck.

Thanks for the reply.

Oh crikey. All new uploads getting 644.

How to ensure photos are uploaded with a permission I specify?

If your answer is "ask your host", then you mean I must go to a php/unix site and learn for myself. It is my server. A pointer would be helpful if possible...

Please and thanks.

Hi, David. We try to change the file permissions to 666 on all uploaded files (you'll find chmod()'s in the code to do just this - like line 437 in uploadphoto.php); if your setup isn't allowing that chmod, I'm not exactly sure what needs to be changed on your server to allow it.

Are the files being created with owner.group of your web server?

Grr. Out of time. There is no line 437 in my (recent) version. Whatever. I know what you are saying, thanks. I'll spend the hours later.

I do not see watermarks on thumbnails. Is that supposed to happen?

Rolling eyeballs: All these tiny changes that take hours to make, and then get wiped out.. if only I had know you were coming out with yet another version, I wouldn't have updated a month ago. Is there a place where we can see what is planned?

What I really want is, to watermark a given users photos: the nasty people use photos from my competition, so I need to overwrite that (ha ha). So I create a new field in vb to indicate this is a nasty person, and now I want pp to watermark those images. So far so good but no thumbnails. And you're going to shovel me off to the dev site... I know, I know.

Thanks all for timely and helpful responses.

Hi, David. We open the BETA forum when we start giving the code for people to try about. I also posted a "5.1 Information" thread about a month ago; we usually update the product every 4-6 months. We try to let people know what were doing in advance so that they can be aware of whats in development, but it isn't as easy to peg actual release dates during the development cycle.
