| How to upgrade from 5.03 to 5.1?
Hi,
I read that 5.1 is a major rewrite of new codes.
How should we upgrade from 5.03 to 5.1?

I read the readme in the docs.
Should we upload the new DATA folder during an upgrade?

Your thread says "Every file in this upgrade has changed and will require a complete reupload before executing the upgrade.php script (except config-inc.php and config-int.php)."
The Readme in docs folder says: Ensure you upload all the directories (except uploads)
So should I upload the uploads and data folders?

No - the list of directories you need to upload are specificed in the thread explictly. uploads and data are not needed for upload.

thanks.
I usually upload the new upgrades to a new directory on the server. I rename the old photopost directory to another name, then I rename the new photopost directory to the actual name. This way I get rid of unnecessay files.
What are the instructions to upgrade from version 4? The thread don't contain these. I'm still using ver 4.7j on some of my sites.

You use the generic upgrade instructions contained in the documentation directory; we don't have specific instructions for each version. Although you can look at the CHANGELOG.TXT file which does discuss what is needed for each upgrade for the next.
Here is the updated version:
IMPORTANT - DO NOT SKIP
. Backup your database before doing this upgrade.
. Ensure you upload all the directories which have files that need to be uploaded to the main PhotoPost directory.
UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS
0) Download and unzip the latest build from the Members Area.
1) Check for new config-inc.php variables, some recent additions are:
$cookie_domain has been added for website cookies. I highly recommend setting this to ".youdomain.com" where yourdomain is the name of your domain. This will enable cookies to be read across your website regardless of the URL (i.e. galley.website.com and forums.website.com). If you are using a forum integration you must have this set in both your forums and photopost. $vblicense is for VB3 users and is required to encrypt your passwords if you are not using vB3Enhanced mode. Without it you will not be able to login to VB3.
2) Upload all files - except config-inc.php, unless you modified it from the ZIP file - to
your server. You do not need install.php for an upgrade.
3) Run upgrade.php and depending on your version, run any necessary upgrades.
4) When done with upgrades, remove the upgrade.php file.
6) You are done!
If you are getting an include error that says it cannot include your forums script; you probably skipped this step and need to rerun upgrade.php?upgrade=40&step=2&fixvbversion=1 to force a change to the variable.
Please read the CHANGELOG.TXT FILE so you know what to expect from version upgrades.
6) You are done!
If you are upgrading run a version prior to 4.0, it is important to run the upgrade40.php script as it will change your vbversion setting to a new value.
If you are getting an include error that says it cannot include your forums script; you probably skipped this step and need to rerun upgrade40.php?step=2&fixvbversion=1 to force a change to the variable.
Please read the CHANGELOG.TXT FILE so you know what to expect from version upgrades.

Just install V5.1 and it was done in 5 minutes.
I will something suggest to the people who use photopost and vbulletin.
In the upgrade docs and above this is what they wrote: 2) Upload all files - except config-inc.php, unless you modified it from the ZIP file - to
your server. You do not need install.php for an upgrade.
I think this isn't correct.
When you run a photopost site don't also upload the directory Data and Uploads
I use seperate database and have intergrate vbulletin and photopost.
I don't also upload the intergration files.
The new version is very good work from the the makers of photopost

Installations and upgrades are one time services which are performed when ordered. If we come out with a new version a week or so after an install I would complimentary update a customer but not after that amount of time.

well saying things crashed doesnt tell me anything. The upgrade from 5.0 to 5.1 is easy. 4.86 - 5 a big one so it all depends on what errors you had what we can assist with
