Upload Help

I am receving the following error when trying to upload a couple images. The images were .tif files that I resized and did a "save as" .jpg's in Photoshop CS. The strange thing is that I did the same as above but did a "Save for Web" and the same images uploaded. Below is the error message I receive...

Warning: imagecreatefromjpeg(): gd-jpeg: JPEG library reports unrecoverable error: in wwwwoodcarvingillustrated.comhtdocsgalleryimage-inc.php on line 84

Warning: imagecreatefromjpeg(): '/www/woodcarvingillustrated.com/htdocs/gallery/uploads/1/StagecoachonBridge.jpg' is not a valid JPEG file in wwwwoodcarvingillustrated.comhtdocsgalleryimage-inc.php on line 84

I checked CHMOD's and they are all 777 in the upload and data directories. No images were found in any of the upload folders.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi..

I would check your paths again, i found the url : http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.com/gallery/data// <-(notice the double slash)

Also clear out your uploads directory and subdirectories of any rogue images and re-encode a jpeg again from photoshop, maybe try exporting the .tif as a .BMP then re-importing that file to then save as a jpeg...

If you have Image-Magick installed on your server maybe this could resolved those issues, please have a look at out guide here for more info on ways to resolve this, cheers

Thank you for the quick reply.

I do not see the double // in the Global options under
1. Data directory virtual path
2. Full path to PhotoPost data directory

Is the // in one of the PHP files?

Currently, in my upload directory I have numerous folders storing no images. Should I delete these folders too?

Cache has been cleaned, in IE and Firefox have been cleared.

I am using GD2.. Does GD2 have the same issues as Image-Magick?

You need to ensure you have jpegtran path filled out if your using Photoshop and do not use SAVE FOR WEB as jpegtran needs to strip the header info or your image will not load.

Your GD version just may also not have the ability to process the image

I'm getting confused now. When I "SAVE FOR THE WEB" in Photoshop the images upload successfully. When I "SAVE AS" I receive the errors described below. You are correct that their is no path filed in for but shouldn't this be left blank if I am using GD image resizing?

Correct I beleive this is related to the abobe/IE bug which has to do with Photoshop and not saving as web.

You can see if you have jpegtran installed to use this to strip the headers otherwise you must save as web.

Jpegtran is used in conjunction with the main image processor
