Upgrade question about data folders

Just to be on the safe side

I am upgrading my Photopost from 4.86 to 5.03 and my question is about the DATA folder and how it gets added in.

In the upgrade it says 'Ensure you upload all the directories' which is including the data directory however I do believe it should be upload all the subfolders into the data directory since that folder already exists.

So my question is on layout and folder permissions.

Currently In my webfolder I have -

Data Folders

1 (this is empty)
2
500
501
502
503
504
505
506
507
508
509
510
511
Folders 2 through 511 are already populated with thousands of images.

The new data folder in Photopost 5.03 looks like-

1
Medium
Mini
Thumbs
2
Medium
Mini
Thumbs
500
Medium
Mini
Thumbs
So my question is do I add just the subfolders into Folder 1, 2, and 500 in my present web or do I have to add the subfolders into every folder that I have, 1 through 511. And if so, are they are all supposed to be chmod 777.

My concern is that this has to be a one time upgrade and I have to get it right since my data directory is to large to make a backup of and I have to cross my fingers and hope it works okay.

--adding a late note after reading more---

in one file it says "The upgrade script will create directories in every category directory: thumbs, medium and mini. Then the upgrade will move and rename the -thumb and -med files from the category into their respective directories."

So do I not add anything to the DATA folder when upgrading and it will be automatic?

The upgrade adds those directories and copies the files over.

You only need to make sure of two things. Your data path is correct in admin global options and that all the current data directories are 777 so the upgrade script can create the new directories and move existing files
