| VB3 and PP Integration Questions
Gang,
I'm currently trying to integrate my new installation of VB with my existing PP installation, and am running into a few snags. First off, the user registration system isn't working. I'm trying to figure out how to use just the VB registration page for both, but can't get that part of it yet. Once successfully integrated, a member only has to register once to use both right? I've already done all the cookie/config settings for the VB install, and they're both sharing the same db.
Here's my main site with PP installed: http://www.momentoffame.com
Here's the forum I'm trying to integrate: http://www.momentoffame.com/forum
Thanks!

You need to change your integration to vb3 from photopost and also in the config file specify the vb database in the user database part if its different than the photopost database

Okay, they're both sharing the same db and I double checked that info - it seems to be correct. Now whenever I try to change the integration information in photopost to vb3 and I hit save changes, it keeps reverting back to "photopost." Any idea on why that's happening?

View your database settings table for photopost and change line 41

Thanks omegatron, that worked! Another question - I'm now getting information together on importing the member base from photopost to my new vb3 installation. I did read a few threads where it mentioned manually doing it and then manually changing out the user ids to match - can you direct me to those threads? I can't seem to find them now.
Thanks!

If this is a stock new install of vb3 you dont need to change userid's just import the members into vb3 with the same userid

Cool! Yes, this is a stock vb3 install. Now when you say import, do you mean into the database table that handles the users? I'm pretty new at this and am trying to take things step by step here. Also, is there a thread that discusses this or can you provide a little more details on going about doing this?

Okay, I found one thread I've been looking all over for. Would the steps below be the correct steps for me to take? Quote:
It is like this.
1. If you select vb3 integration you need to do this.
a. change the info to vb3 integration like I stated
b. edit your usergroups table for Photopost in phpmyadmin. Delete every entry in the usergroups table except number 5 which is your admin insert. edit that entry and change the 5 to a 6 so your vb admin login will get an admin link.
c. You would login to photopost with your vb3 login
Your users in photopost images will not belong to the right person afterward though so as an admin you would need to reassign them to the proper user in VB afterwards.

Okay, I decided to give it a try and imported all users from photopost into the vb "user" table. It didn't work - vb now keeps giving me db errors. Any suggestions? Anyone at all at support have tips on importing all pp users into a fresh vb?

You would usually need to write an import script to throw the users into vb user table
If your familar to php and mysql its not too hard a think to do.

Has anyone here successfully done this or know someone with a script? It's probably obvious by now that I'm not too familiar with either...
