Dropped Thumbnails and Upgrade Errors

I just upgraded from 4.86 to 5.03 using the upgrade.php script and instructions to the letter.

There were file rename 'permission' errors encountered during the db modify step of the upgrade and it always pointed to the Data 500 folder, I did as it suggested and ensured that the folder specified was chode 777, it still got the same errors but the step indicated that is was completed and to proceed so I did.

I then received several access errors as it was attempting to remove files, and from what I've seen in other threads I can just remove the files manually of I really need too, but how am I to know which files?

I also reloaded the admin.inc file to fix the "t" error, and added Michael's 2 lines of code to get my version number displayed.

Now it comes too it....

I found that immediatly after the upgrade that I had thumbnails and medium images missing all over the place and traced it down to that one data/500 folder. I chmoded the mini, medium, and thumbs folders in there and rebuilt all medium images using the admin panel. All medium images have returned.

I've tried 'Check for and create missing thumbnails' and 'Rebuild all thumbnails', and I am getting this error
Quote:
Checking photo #8547: rebuilding /home/warofthe/public_html/photoforum/data/500/thumbs/38001_n_vtelen24_M.jpg from /home/warofthe/public_html/photoforum/data/500/38001_n_vtelen24_M.jpg ...

Sorry, this image type (6) is not supported yet.
This is better than the tons of permission errors I was getting but I still have many users with missing thumbs. lol

Am I at the point where I need to restore my photopost tables and run the upgrade php script again or is there an easier softer way to fix this?

My installation is here and I have the phpinfo.php file loaded as well if you need it.

Thanks!

You sure the directory is 777? If the files could not be moved I would think not.

Anyway I would recheck permissions and try a thumb rebuild for missing thumbs once again.

Try localizing it just to 500

If the permissions persist have you tried switching image processors as well?

Well....after the upgrade was completed, I found that yea..the 500 folder was 777, but the folders inside were not. I fixed that and what I ended up doing last night was just editing the individual photos and rebuilding the thumbs one at a time. It did not seem to have a problem at all except for two blasted images where I am getting this when I try to rebuild the thumb from the Admin/edit photo option

Also...is there a listing somewhere of all the files that were supposed to be deleted as part of the upgrade process?

Oh...how do you limit the thumb rebuild to just one folder?

And no...I have not tried switching to ImageMagick from GD2. During the last upgrade photos were not uploading properly as it was IM...as soon as I switched to GD everything was fine.

Sorry to double post but after manually repairing most of the thumbnails as I mentioned above, I found a few more and attempted to "Search for and repair missing thumbs" via the admin panel again...............and it worked! lol

I looks like I got past whatever image was causing the problem when I did the manual repairs as it completed the process all the way to the "finished" message this time and actual repaired the ones I found.

I'm still curious about deleting files that are not needed anymore. hehe
