| Weird Problems
Users on our Gallery ( http://gallery.deeperblue.net) are complaining of weird problems. They seem to be able to upload some images but after a while they can't upload and get either a DNS Error (not found) or an error saying "Returned document holds no data"
This only happens once the user has selected what files to upload and clicked on "upload".
Any ideas anyone?

Chuck,
Nothing has changed. We've always had a couple of users who have had these problems, however as our gallery gets more popular it seems to be getting a bigger problem. People can view the gallery no problem, and others are uploading photos no problem, it only seems to affect different users at different times.

Well without a specific error its hard to give a solution.
Anything in your server logs?
A DNS or 404 error is a server error and there should be an entry in your error log to correspond what the issue is.

There is nothing in the server logs of particular interest. I've just run a test from my machine here and the following is reported: Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
The error I get from my machine is a standard DNS "Cannot Find Server" error (which is the one most people get as far as I can tell).
I'm doing further investigation on my side but I can tell you that this is not a new problem and nothing has changed on the server.

Chuck,
I can see.
However this is a problem that doesn't seem to affect everyone who uploaded which is making it particularly difficult to diagnose.
It is currently affecting me as I try to upload individual photos (I normally bulk upload as i'm uploading dozens of photos at a time) and we have numerous other users who get affected.

Try clearing your uploads directory off all subdirectories.
If I can not replicate it on your install and the server logs dont give a clue a DNS error is pretty generic that I can only offer suggestions like above.

Chuck,
The problem does seem to be something configuration wise. I've switched to firefox to try to replicate the problem some of my users are reporting ("Document contains no data") and get the following screen shot after trying to upload just one image onto the site.

That error would definately be server configuration related.
Is your limitbodyrequest variable in php_conf or apache set to a specific max size and then your uploading a larger image than php allows so the file is dropped.
This would be the case from looking at that error.

Just checked out php_conf and found that we've got the setting:
LimitRequestBody 524288
So - we need to change that.
Is it possible to add this to just a specific site directive in apache or does it have to work across the PHP configuration?

If you can change that file variable I would do it
Basically thats saying you cant upload a file larger than 512K
