Upgrading Photopost Problem

OK, I am carefully following the directions....

I backed up the data directory and the photos database.

Then I closed the gallery in the admin CONFIG (not in the admin OPTIONS as stated in the upgrade instructions), although when I checked the gallery to confirm that it was closed it was not. I removed the upload button temporarily so that no one could screw add any new photos. Very strange.

So then I copied the new files to the server, no problems there.

I ran the upgrade.php script and was asked what version I was upgrading from... well, I remember from yesterday that it was 4.something... but I didn't write that information down and now my gallery is no longer working so I can't tell. So I went into my mySQL 'gallery_settings' database and found the variable 'pversion' that says 4.5. (Originally downloaded and installed on 10/11/2004 and have not upgraded since, if that helps) So I click the 'Upgrade 4.5.X' link in the upgrade script and get this error:

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
Well, the instructions specifically tell me not to upload config-int.php and there isn't one on my server, there is a config-inc.php, though. HELP!?!

If you don't have one, you should upload the one from the file. You don't need to overwrite it if you already have it is what it is telling you.

You need to be sure to run all the upgrades from whatever version you were running; missing even one will create problems for you.

Hmmm, well, maybe you should edit the instructions so that they explain that because they are pretty specific that I should not upload it. Anyway, thanks for the fast response.

So I ran the 4.5 script and got a bunch of errors and I'm afraid to move ahead. here is what I got:

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.

Hmm, seems to have worked. I got errors through the next couple of steps, but after a few the errors stopped and everything seemed to work OK.

One thing, when I choose CLOSE for the "Gallery Open" setting in the config area it has no effect on the board. Is it because I am logged in as an admin or should the board appear to be closed with a message?

Yes phone is for sales.

The upgrade instructions state to not upload the config-inc.php file I beleive

I only see one error and thats not a biggy

Performing MySQL command: DROP TABLE gallery_stylesheet; ... Error: Unknown table 'gallery_stylesheet'
Upgrade complete! You should continue to next step

You can move on

Well, it says:
Quote:
3) Copy the files from the ZIP download in the main directory, e[*]cept config-inc.php/config.int.php, install.php and watermark.php. Upload the templates, forums, images, languages and stylesheets directory (careful not to over right any custom style you may have created/modified).
But everything has worked now... you might also want to tell the PP user to mark down the version number listed at the bottom of their PP page before starting the upgrade as they will need to know the exact version number once they get into the upgrade screen... and by that time it is too late to go back to check. I have a suspicion that the 4.5 variable I found was not accurate and I was getting errors because I clicked on a version that was earlier than my actual version.

Oh well, maybe you can inform the next user a little better, I survived.

Instructions can always be reworded however this is in there

4) Run upgrade.php and depending on your version, run any necessary upgrades.

Are you saying reword that?

No, reword the part that tells people not to upload config-int.php unless they don't have it already.
