Merge several PP4.8.6 boards into one only

Hi

Currently I am using several PP4.8.6 installations. Each one has its own internal registration system (always photopost).

I am planning now to merge some of them into one "master" only to get higher traffic for new images.

Categories in all different installations are always the same. Usergroups too. Normally, these are different users, but I do not know for sure whether some users might be registered in two different boards at the same time. Every Installation is using different prefixes in the database.

How can I do this without loosing the images, comments and userdata of each board. All shall be transferred to this one "master"?

Thanks in advance

There really is no way to do this without a lot of work from you.

Basically you would need to upgrade all boards to pp5 so you dont have to rewrite Photo names.

If all the categories numbers are the same what you need to do is this.

The users are going to be the hard part here as you dont know if they exist in the master or not.

The easy way would be to just create a script and renumber all users on the imported install to there userid plus the last user record on the master so say if you have 486 users on the master. Your userid would become 487 and so on. Then update all the old tables comments and photos userids up that amount. Same thing next script to renumber photos upfrom the master to a number that can be inserted and rewrite the photoid's to comments table as well. Then rewrite the comments numbers same way

After you do all this you should be able to move all data files and insert the user photos and comments records into the master install.

The above does not check for matching user records but it gives you a general idea of what has to happen to get things working. Lots an lots of work to mesh databases

oh god, that sounds not very attractive

Is there in PP5 a possibility to add manually users in the admin menu? Maybe I could as an admin create the user with username and password and then import images to this username through admin-menu/bulk uploads?

Would that be possible?

hit the register button and register a username password and enter an email.

Just turn off email verification and you can register users one at a time. This is what your looking to do.
