Can't write/create to Data

I chmod'ed all the Data dir and sub cats to 777, but am still getting this error:

Unable to create/write to /home/sandino/public_html/data504! Check your data directory permissions before continuing.

I can not create catagories and what not..what do you think?

I have the same problem and it seems that there is no good solution about this.
I have now for tree times restore the dbase.
Version 4.8 is working very good.
I have also check everything ( settings 777) and whatever is wrote on this forum.
They say that the upgrade file is ok, but i see a lot of the same problems on this forum.
I will advise you and everyone who want to upgrade make a backup from your working version.
Or that's what i now gone do now ,waiting on a good upgrade script.
Sorry for the support guys, but this upgrade version give me to many problems.
Before it was always easy.

Your permissions are not set to 777 at every level under data as the instructions state. You would need to post the exact error here for me to comment further but based on your one line above this is the issue.

That's what I would have figured too. I called the host to verify the setting was correct. All the sub folders are set in \data too. Unable to create/write to c:\websites isingsun4x4club369 isingsun4x4club.org\photopost/data! Check your data directory permissions before continuing.

Where is it writing that value to? I'm skeptical that it's missing some characters. Thanks Chuck

Your path is definately wrong which is why you want to view php info

c:\websites isingsun4x4club369 isingsun4x4club.org\photopost/

That just does not look right its missing part of the path and also in windows you want to use forward slashes like so

c:/websites isingsun4x4club369 isingsun4x4club.org/photopost/

Ok, Chuck I'm good to login the only error i'm getting now is on the login page, I can login but i still get the same error

Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in c:\websites\risingsun4x4club369\risingsun4x4club.org\photopost\forums\vb3.php on line 25

"I'm assuming it's the table prefix on step 4?

Forums database table prefix for your forum (you may have chosen this initially when you installed your forum - leave blank if none or default):"

I tried db name (rsforum) and the table forum (forum) which is rsforum/forum

Your vb3 table prefix would be located in your vb3 config.php file

The correct prefix needs to be entered on install and in the first step config you would have needed to place the proper vb3 database info on the user database spot.

Step one, I thought I have the Forum DB referenced correctly. If not you can't move on because it can't log into the db. Do I need to reference the actual vb3 "forum" table within my database?

If that's the case what's the lang structure to for DB/table for step one?

In the first step of the install on config

You enter the forum database name username and password in the user database section. Then on step 4 you input the proper table prefix of your vb forum is any.

ok.. I went back though and honestly i can't remember exactly what I changed but it had to be something good because I don't have any errors now.

I guess I should have tried this a few times before asking dumb questions.

Looks like i'm good to go now, Thanks again!
