| Still errors upgrade to version 5
The first upgrade from version 4.86 to version 5 was very bad.
So i have to restore the database and datafile.
When this has work again (version 4.86) i have read this forum and set ( check) the permissions.
So that must be good.
But... again errors
I have no idea what is wrong because the version 4.86 is working fine.
Now i gone again restore everything, but i wait for the answer what i do wrong.
This are the errors:
This is the first:
Warning: fopen(/home/virtual/site1/fst/var/www/html/fotopost/data/1/thumbs/index.htm): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/virtual/site1/fst/var/www/html/fotopost/pp-inc.php on line 2254

The latest errors are not a concern as it would not let you delete some files which may or not be allowed since your fotopost directory is 755
However your data directories to me would seem that at least those two and one are not 777
Check the thumbs, mini and medium directories under 1 and 2 as well as those directories themselves and make sure they are 777 and then do you upgrades.
Every instance of problems running the Photopost 5 upgrade that I have been witness to has been permissions related. In every case after a total recheck of all directory permissions the upgrade goes through fine
This is expecially needed to be set correctly on this upgrade as we are moving files to alternate directories.

Thanks for the quick replay.
I have make all the directory's in data 777.
Seems to be work now,but still the last error is there:
Updating filenames...
Updates completed...
Preparing to remove files which are no longer used by PhotoPost.
Warning: unlink(/home/virtual/site1/fst/var/www/html/fotopost/dcfp_auth_lib.php): Permission denied in /home/virtual/site1/fst/var/www/html/fotopost/upgrade.php on line 1912
But now error 3 is there too.
After registration there is again a error:
Warning: main(/home/virtual/site1/fst/var/www/html/fotopost/languages/english/english.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/virtual/site1/fst/var/www/html/fotopost/register.php on line 287
Warning: main(): Failed opening '/home/virtual/site1/fst/var/www/html/fotopost/languages/english/english.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/php/includes:/usr/share/php') in /home/virtual/site1/fst/var/www/html/fotopost/register.php on line 287
I know you wrote that this is a easy upgrade.
I use now photopost about 1,5 year and i have done a lot of upgrade form the versions.
But this one is very bad, it isnt so easy as you wrote and there are bug in it.
I ám sure about that because how do you want to explain that a good working version 4.86 not can be upgrade to version 5 without a lot of problems
I have make also a new install and this is without any problems.
So now i return to version 4.86 and wait to see how other users find the upgrade ....

Find this line in register.php
include "{$Globals['PP_PATH']}/languages/{$Globals['pplang']}/english.php";
change it to this
include "{$Globals['PP_PATH']}/languages/{$Globals['pplang']}.php";

The upgrade itself is very simple 3 steps.
However it requires your permissions be correct to work correct. All problems with upgradfing losing images etc are permissions issues
The fix I gave above for register.php would be considered a bug in the register script.
I would suggest when asking for help post your site info.
It is extremely hard to encompass all the issues without seeing first hand your problem.

Thanks for the replay.
Because the problems with i have with the upgrade i have install a fresh version of photopost V for testing.
Normal i use VB3 + Photopost together and you can see that on my forum .
I have restore the database on this site.
I'am using seperate database for photopost and VB.
I'am happy that i done this, because restore photopost give's no problems on the forum.
As you can see i'am using now again version 4.86.
So now i have try to test the new version 5 on photopost test.
But still as i wrote errors.
Because in any post you wrote about problems with permissions i will ask you to give me the permissions of the directory's before upgrade.
I will than check this on the working version ( 4.86) and changed the settings when needed.
But stil it is strange that a working version with upgrade to a new version give permission errors.
Normal i think the upgrade script must check of the settings are ok and correct them when needed.

aberg we attempt to change permissions on the directories we create on the upgrade script but scripts not always have permission to change permission like the user who signs into the ftp account
ALL DATA DIRECTORIES AND THERE SUBDIRECTORIES need to be 777

Warning: unlink(/home/virtual/site1/fst/var/www/html/fotopost/showalbums.php): Permission denied in /home/virtual/site1/fst/var/www/html/fotopost/upgrade.php on line 1914
and still can;t logout.
But.... now images files all OK, and can upload new pictures.
Seems to be workin now correct, except as i wrote can't log-out and what is this error:
Warning: unlink(/home/virtual/site1/fst/var/www/html/fotopost/showalbums.php): Permission denied in /home/virtual/site1/fst/var/www/html/fotopost/upgrade.php on line 1914

The removal of file errors mean nothing in the grand scheme as you can remove them manually
Is your photopost upgraded correctly? photos viewable?
Post a link here so I can see what issue you have

Okay everything appears fine
If those files are not deleted on the last part of install its not a big deal.
Delete them manually as they are no longer used by any Photopost 5 files

I had changed everything to 777 before the upgrade and I am getting registration errors Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
at the top pf the confirnmation email page after someone registers
The confirmation email they get looks like this Quote:
Thanks for registering at .
In order to activate your account, which will enable you to upload photos and post comments (if
the site allows comments), you must click on the link below or copy and paste it into your browser:
/register.php?ppaction=vfy&uid=&knum=
Thanks!
The Team
| I did the register.php edit above and now registration wont complete because the system complians that the password confirmation field NEVER matches the password field....
EDIT - apparently the password match was a cache problem.. Its fixed now

There is no 5.2 and the call to a non existant language file is indeed fixed.
