| Errors during upgrade to 5.0
I have upgraded to 5.0 but got errors on 3 rd step it didn't ahve permissions to find and fix some image files.
Went on to other steps and at the step it said it would clean up files that were no longer used it gave lots of errors and didn't remove those files.
I was not able to save those errors as it went on to last step that said to remove upgrade.php file.
Can I compare the files that are in PP 5 zip and delete the files on my server that are not in the zip for 5.0 since the upgrade didn't remove the files I no longer need.
It shows as being upgraded but I got a couple problems.
I only have blank thumbnails and waiting to see what I need to do before trying to rebuild. mini medium and full images don't show at all.
Also on gallery page the tables are not the same as with 4.8.6 so now I have to scroll my page to see the gallery as before wuth 4.8.6 I didn't ahve taht problem.

This is for everyone
Do not run a rebuild thumbs for admin scan database
In a separate thread ask for support assistance and we shall try and come first come first serve and see what the issue is
90 percent the time its directory permission problems and once those are fixed the upgrade runs fine

Aberg how about you start by PMing link and admin link and yes there is a reason for backups.
There is nothing wrong with the upgrade script. Any errors I encounter are server error where it wont allow the directories to be set to 777 or a path issue.
I would be more than happy to run through your upgrade after you ensure you have backups of everything

I guess I ahve really messed up as I did run the scan to rebuild thumbs.
I do have a home backup and all the original files from photopost 4.8.6 saved inclucing the data files.
My problem is not sure how to redo my data base if its messed up.
I will be glad to give admin info for help on this one.

I guess the point being is does a backup you do include that of a mysql backup? I guess you would need to do a restore to find out.
Without a mysql backup there is not much I can assist you with you if you dont have one.
If you have one I can assist you in restoring the mysql tables no problem.

What I have is the backups from my server cpanel where it says backups.
I have two data base .gz files and the one big backup-iloco.org-3-3-2005.tar.gz file.
Will these help get my images back. I got these right before doing the 5.0 upgrade.
Are these consider mysql backups. I am lost when it comes to understanding a lot about mysql.

You can do a site restore from cpanel and see if that helps it should backup the databases.
You can also unzip these on your home computer and pull out the mysql database backups

I have installed the two mysql data bases and now reinstalling all my 4.8.6 photo files so I can get back into photopost.
Takes a while with how I am doing it but will let you know when finished. may be couple hours as I have to run and help a friend.

I got my forum back as before the upgrade to 5.0 with my gallery back to 4.8.6.
Backups are a blessing but take a long time to do the way I have to do it.
Would sure like to get 5.0 to work for me.
