Database Backup & Restore

I plan do move my gallery to a new hosting provider soon.

I cannot use the backup option in the Admin area since it generates a lot of MySQL errors.

I'd rather do it through Export/Import features of phpMyAdmin from my host's Control Panel. The database is quite large, and I guess I'd use the option "zipped" to save the file to my local hard drive to be later imported into PhotoPost.

I've never done this before. Has anybody backed up the database and successfully restored it when moving to a new hosting provider ?

Yes make sure to select option save as file and gzip if you can

The simple restore on the other host.
