4.86 Install problem

VB3 3.0.5
VB Portal 3.0.0
PHP 4.3.10

I am having problems with install and I am confused about which path to use. Host control panel says this;

Document Root:
/www/n/w/nwoffshore.com/htdocs
Actual Path:
/www/n/nwoffshoreco/htdocs

phpinfo.php says this;
_SERVER["ORIG_PATH_TRANSLATED"] /www/n/w/nwoffshore.com/htdocs/phpinfo.php

If I edit config.inc and config.int and run install.php using Document root,(matches PHPINFO), install goes well with no errors but the photopost/index.php displays this error. I also cannot login to admin section.

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
If I edit config.inc and config.int and run install.php using Actual path, install gives me the following errors;

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
We're sorry, but we encountered an error during the installation process...

If you have corrected the error, you may hit GO BACK and try again.

Permissions are set correctly in all directories

Did I leave something out or provide too much info?

You did not change the permissions on your data and upload directions per the installation documentation.

I have been through the permissions with a fine tooth comb. I have read enough solutions in this forum involving permissions in the past to know better. Not saying I could still not have made a mistake, but I checked before posting and re-checked after you responded.

Ah good after a few more cups of coffee I see the issue.

/www/n/w/nwoffshore.com/htdocs /photopost/uploads

Notice anything odd

You have a space after the htdocs. Make sure to correct your PP_PATH in the config and remove the space. Although If I remember right you already installed so in Admin Global Options remove the space in the paths to the uploads and data directories as well as in the config correcting the pp_path

I think you hit on something I was not aware of. If you install with a mistake, it writes it to the Admin Global Options. I will keep this in mind.

I was apparently using the wrong path. I thought I read the the path was the one listing in the PHPINFO.php page. Apparently it was suppose to be actual path, not directory root.

Thanks for all your help Omegatron. Now on to PhotoPost Classifieds.
